Hey there, You probably know that life gets difficult sometimes, and we don't usually get what we want but have you ever wondered a life in which things start going exactly the way you want for 2 consecutive years straight. You probably must be thinking that's nearly impossible, and if you feel this way then trust me you are about to read a story that will change your entire perception about Luck and Life.
This is the story of a boy named Krishna from Jharkhand, India, who was just like any ordinary guy. He was raised by a middle class family, completed his school with an average marks, nothing unusual, Right!!!. But things started changing slightly while he started attending his college in Bhubaneswar, Odisha. Now, generally every student in a college is focused on getting placed, day and night and students usually take this very seriously. But Krishna was way better at life than any other student.
While he was in his fourth semester in Computer Science Engineering, he understood that studies can make you a very good employee for life but will never teach you, how to live the life of your dreams and luckily he got this clarity soon enough. He realized that working for a salary may give you food, shelter and clothing for the rest of your life but will never fulfill any of your wishes soon enough to make you happy, Let's consider buying a car, an average employee needs to work at least 7 to 8 years before he can arrange a sum for the down payment of a decent car but that's not all after that he must also wait for the approval of the bank and usually the banks reject such requests, And if he wants to own a luxury car then that might just be a dream, because the people who are in a habit of getting what they want, generally have a trait of taking risks and as you would have guessed Krishna belonged to the group of elite minds.
After the completion of his college in 2010, he went to his father, who was always determined that Krishna should have joined an IT firm for a secure job, "But you can't blame a dad because all he wants is to see his child safe from any risks". But if your child is a daredevil like Krishna, then living a risk free life is never an option. So, Krishna went to his dad and asked for a small sum of Rs. 2,00,000 in order to start a small import and export business of Imitation Jewellery. But as he was determined to convince his son to work for a company, his dad refused. Quite hurt, he still convinced him, that if he wanted his son to work for a company, that's what he will do, but he would like to start by working in a company who were in the business of imitation jewelleries, persuasive as Krishna was, his father finally agreed and sent him to Delhi where Krishna stayed at a relative's house for a short span of time until he found a company to work for, after he got the job.
Fortunately within 4 days he was able to secure the job at a company (name hidden due to privacy issues, you'll know why, in a bit), then he moved out of the relative's place and started staying at a rented apartment near his workplace, which was ideal for the salary he received. So Krishna started working for the company during day shifts from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. , 6 days a week. Before we get further, a very important trait of Krishna needs to be understood, he had a very good quality of convincing people and making them believe in his ideas (for those of you thinking about why wasn't he able to convince his dad earlier, it's because you simply can't convince a father to let their children take such a big risk, in the case of parents this quality is an exception). Krishna was also way too manipulative, persuasive and convincing than any person you would have met before, he was really good at it and by that I really mean it, you will know why, in a bit. So, as his personality was, it was quite simple for him to make friends and earn their trust. And, guess who was his first friend in the company, with whom he bonded like true brothers, it was the company's manager, who was held responsible for every tiny bit, by the owner of that company. So, during the evening when rest of the employees were busy, chasing the attention of the female employees and were trying their hardest to spend their money on them, by begging the girls to go out for a dinner or movie with them, Krishna was busy in envisioning his empire.
You must have heard the quote - "People get what they chase by concentrating all their energy and thoughts in their dreams".
Well, as rest of the employees were busy in wasting their money, Krishna started assessing and evaluating, each and every aspect of this business of import/export. It was quite simple for him to do, as the manager who was quite learned in this field, taught him everything day by day. Within a month, Krishna was astonished on how much profit percentage the owner kept for him (Now, the people who aren't from business background may find it difficult to understand but let me break this down into simpler words for your understanding, An imitation Jewellery is something whose price is set by the seller, because the buyer usually has no idea on how much their real cost can be, it can be a jewellery made out of sea shells, beads and other stuff found in nature or produced by artificial means, which can be used for decorating homes, people etc.). Every evening after the work was completed Krishna went for long walks with Rajesh (The Manager), when they discussed important things over a cup of tea, Rajesh taught Krishna, about the concepts of warehouses, buyer-seller relationship, profit margin etc.
After approximately 6 months of working in that company, Krishna learned every single thing that he had to, in order to start his business and so, he resigned. Now, Rajesh considered Krishna, almost like a true friend or brother, So when Krishna asked him whether he would leave his Rs. 25,000 job and work for Rs. 35,000, in Krishna's new company, Rajesh agreed immediately. (Now, for the people who are confused that why did Krishna choose Rajesh at a higher pay instead of someone else, it is because in business nobody trusts a newcomer immediately, it takes a very very long time to gain the trust of people in business world and Rajesh was the face of that company whenever it was about meeting and handling clients and he had been working as the manager for around 10 years, So, a large number of companies dealing with imitation jewelleries trusted Rajesh blindfolded).
Promising Rajesh that he would return soon, Krishna went back to his hometown.
Upon his return, no one in the family knew that he had resigned from the job and after 2 days, at night, after the dinner, Krishna went to his father and requested him to lend a sum of Rs. 3,50,000 (a total estimate, he figured out that was sufficient to get the business started), in order to start his business, but his father was again in denial. But Krishna was able to convince his dad, to lend him the money, when he promised that if the business didn't show a promising return or profit within a year time, he would never speak of doing business again and will go and work for an IT firm forever. This was on 26th February, 2011, a historic day for Krishna.
So, the next day without wasting any time, he went back to Delhi, rented an office, called Rajesh, prepared business plan and a course of action, dealt with all the the jewelleries provider, talked to the courier services and was all set within 3 days. On 3rd of March, the official starting day of Krishna's company, Rajesh started making calls to the clients and also started sending the samples of the materials, they would be dealing in. On 4th March, they got their first order of $1600 from a New Zealand company and the profit margin on this order was $1000, after cutting the cost of transportation and other essentials costs. This was enough to convince Krishna that he had taken the right decision (Their basic business model was that they bought Imitation Jewelleries from the sellers of different states in India and sent the sample abroad to different clients, who were in this business, like in this case they bought the factory produced jewellery from a nearby city, which they thought had some potential, and after sending the sample to a lot of different companies, one of them showed the interest and ordered some amount which made them a profit of Rs. 45000 at that time). The best part about this business was that the potential clients had no idea of the actual price and this made a lot of profit. (Remember I mentioned before a period of two years of total fortune that Krishna experienced, it started right after this day).
Now, Krishna was a businessman in the real sense, he knew that he should never trust or own only a single business because one never knows what the future holds. So, instead of buying luxuries, he always focused on saving up to start another business. He continued this cycle of buying samples, sending them, and receiving orders in bulk for around 4 to 5 months, during this period, he was totally unstoppable, some days his profit went up to as high as Rs. 12,00,000/day and on usual days, he made a profit of Rs. 2,00,000 to 3,00,000 / day, Someone who lives in India will totally agree that his business was skyrocketing. Within 5 months period, he was able to raise a sum of more than Rs. 5,00,00,000 (5 crores). It was at that point, he realized that it was time to start investing in other businesses as well. As everyone knows that there is no better investment than real estate. Therefore, he bought a one story bungalow in Delhi for a huge investment of Rs. 4,00,00,000 (4 crores), which was suggested by his dad, as Krishna had been living in his rented office space for around 5 months. "An investment in real estate will always be profitable in the future, sometimes the price of property almost doubles itself in 5 to 10 years" - his father said to him.
But Krishna was never a huge fan of securing his money, he always loved taking risks and moreover he was also searching for another profitable business opportunity. Now, his company was making enough money everyday for him to invest in any business he wanted and after around a month time, he finally got it. It was the bus transportation service, which has always been in demand in Jharkhand, So he purchased 2 Air Conditioned buses and 3 buses without AC. All running between the busiest routes like from Dhanbad - Bokaro - Ranchi - Jamshedpur. This also turned out to be a heavily profitable business for Krishna, as everyday the profits of all buses combined made a profit of Rs.(1,00,000 to 2,00,000)/day. An ordinary man would have settled by now, thinking that even if his import/export business went down, the buses would still be able to bring enough money for living a lavish life, but it is Krishna we are talking about who always wanted to expand his empire. Now, as he had already poured quite a huge sum into his bungalow and bus business, he waited for 2 months before he made further investments in other business. But, when you are an entrepreneur, you research each and everything that can bring in profits, and that's exactly what he did. He researched the busiest routes for buses across India, but he wanted the bus business to be near his hometown so that they were in a little more control. So after some research he found out about the routes Kolkata - Ranchi, Bhubaneswar - Ranchi, Delhi - Mathura. So, he bought an Air Conditioned bus for Kolkata to Ranchi and 2 Volvo buses for Bhubaneswar and mathura routes resp. This was again a huge investment of around Rs. 2,00,00,000 (2 crores) but they had a promising return, So, now this business started bringing in Rs. (3,00,000 to 4,00,000)/day which was an improvement.
Krishna had now become so obsessed with money that he didn't want to leave a single source of income, So, he sold his bungalow at around Rs. 5 crores which was a good profit for an estate recently bought for 4 crores, and then he added some more money to this and bought a 3 story building in Delhi, where the the ground floor was where he lived and the above 2 floors were rented out by him, this investment was also commendable, even though it didn't bring as much profit as his other businesses, still, this house was able to make a sum of Rs. 1,00,000/month, which isn't that bad to be honest.
As the time went by, he decided of expanding into restaurant business, So, he started acquiring the Line Hotels or Dhabas, in the routes, in which his buses ran, one by one. He started with his hometown, then other states in which his buses travelled. In the beginning months of 2012, he was able to do this successfully, now all of his bus stoppages were his own restaurants. Which also poured in a lot of cash, something around Rs. (1,00,000 to 2,00,000)/day.
This marks the end of his first year as a businessman, and also the time period he asked from his dad to prove himself, the difference was just that he was now making Rs. 10,00,000/day (10 lakhs) which is quite a deal in India.
His father obviously knew that Krishna was making good deals, one after another, but even he was unaware what his son was making in a day, I mean he definitely knew that his son was making good money but 10 lakhs was way higher than his expectations, which he didn't know until the "Party of April, 2012" . This party had great importance for Krishna's second year of expansion.
So the Party of April, 2012 took place on the 5th of that month, It was sort of a surprise party, which Krishna threw, back at his hometown. After around an year of good decisions and great business opportunities, Krishna finally decided to throw a party, in order to celebrate his success with all of his relatives. But in his hometown, there weren't any 5 star hotels but there was a single 3 star hotel in his entire town, well to be honest it wasn't cheap though. An average lavish party could cost around 4 lakhs, which isn't a small amount to celebrate with. So, Krishna called all of his relatives, cousins from both of his parent's side, and also some of his close friends. The main Krishna threw this party in his hometown was that it was convenient for all of his relatives, if he had decided to party in any other place it was most likely that most of his relatives wouldn't be able to make it. So, he booked the entire hotel much in advance, around 65 rooms, each room was a comfortable stay for 2 people at max and there were around a 110 people coming, therefore, he didn't take any chance and booked for some surprise guests as well. He booked all the rooms for 3 days, 4th, 5th and 6th of April.
4th April was the day when all of his guests would be arriving, 5th night was the party, and 6th was the day when all of his guests were expected to leave for their homes. So, he took almost everything in considerations, so that the party didn't turn out to be disaster. He was very concerned about his respect by now, so, he planned everything in perfect order. Now! Has this ever happened to you when you were trying way to hard to earn everyone's respect around you, but for some reason you weren't able to do it, Well! From now on pay close attention to each and every detail of the party, it is the ultimate way to earn everyone's respect forever.
So, the 4th of April finally arrived and the guests started checking in from around 10 am, all of the hotel staffs were strictly instructed to give them special services like everything you would expect from a 5 star hotel, each and every guest were paid way too much respect upon their arrival and everyone had been given the privilege of ordering whatsoever they wanted, in unlimited quantity, at any time of the day, even at 3 in the morning and if they weren't ordering anything, their room telephone would be called and they were asked again and again, every hour, until they ordered something and all of this was free of charge for each and every guest till 6th night. By this gesture, Krishna had already owned all of his relatives and they were all eagerly waiting to see him, but remember, if you want to imprint your respectful image in someone's heart forever, you need to do one thing, and that is talk as less as you can, and also don't be at any single place for longer than 30 minutes, and guess what! This is exactly what Krishna did.
Now, the 5th arrived, and everyone was already talking and fully excited to meet Krishna, Since, it would be the first time many of them were meeting him, after he went to college. The party was supposed to start at 8 in the evening, but Krishna was a master in owning people psychologically, therefore, he decided to arrive at 9 pm, which wouldn't be too late or too early. Time passed, everyone was preparing and getting ready for the party, everyone wanted to have a look at Krishna that how a little boy with such a simple family background was able to build his own empire, at such an early stage of life.
Now it was 8 pm in the evening, everyone started coming to the party hall which was on the ground floor, it was exotically decorated with expensive chandeliers, exotic food, luxury lightning, even a highly paid Opera were invited. Now everyone arrived till 8:15 and now, everyone was either talking or eagerly waiting for the arrival of the Man who was now the inspiration for even the elders. Time progressed and now everyone was even more excited, the clock struck 9, and everyone heard a helicopter approaching the hotel, WAIT A SECOND!!!! I haven't told you anything about the luxuries Krishna owned by now, have I? Well, It's important for you to understand that when you come to a higher level in business, It is then you realize that you can't stay simple forever, you need to maintain a luxurious lifestyle, because at the higher point, business is all about connections but here I have been telling you only the important things such as business tactics and the psychological tricks that Krishna used in his life, I'll be telling you about the expensive stuff when we reach the appropriate time to discuss them, I don't want you to obsess over the possessions of a guy you barely know, because a successful mindset is never obsessed by materialistic things, it always craves plans and goals that one can't live without. So, let's focus on the party for now.
Everyone's excitement grew even stronger when they thought that it might be Krishna, everyone started going towards the entrance. Now, across the road, there was a huge empty ground around 300 meters from the hotel's entrance, So, it was well visible to all the guests that had come out, as the helicopter landed, everyone noticed a luxury sedan car with the driver standing at the door, which was standing just a few meters from the landing location, and also an 8 seater SUV ( Sports Utility Vehicle ) with four people in black suits standing at each door, just behind the sedan. Krishna finally got out of the helicopter, all the four guards quickly surrounded him and walked with him to the sedan, where the driver was already holding the door open. Krishna got in the luxury car and the SUV with guards followed him to the hotel and he came to the hotel's entrance in the most luxurious way possible to every person standing there. The four guards quickly got out of the car as soon as Krishna's car stopped and one of them opened the door, Krishna got out and was surrounded by the guards at an instance, everyone started cheering and calling out his name, but he was just looking straight and his guards were telling everyone that their master would meet them in the party so kindly move towards the party while escorting Krishna inside.
He came to the main hall of the party, still escorted by the guards, where he shook hands with some of his relatives and took blessings from the elderly people, everyone was going crazy over him, and everyone was trying to talk to him, but Krishna's guards were instructed to not allow any sort of disturbance from the people around and so just like that, he greeted some of his cousins, thanked them for joining them, and and asked everyone to start with the dinner.
Now, Krishna was close to his 4 cousins with whom he discussed business growing up and while the 5 of them were sitting together, where his cousins were having dinner, and he was just sipping soft drinks, where he explained how it all started. One of his cousins Shyam suggested him to buy a few petrol stations as it would not only lead to increased profits of his bus trips, but also, it is a very good source of income. Now Shyam was the closest to Krishna, So, Krishna actually thought this through and decided to implement it.
When Krishna learned that Shyam wasn't satisfied with the job he was doing at a firm, he suggested him to send over his resignation, upon Shyam's question on what he would be doing after handing over the resignation, Krishna told him that he would be looking after and managing the petrol stations in Jharkhand, West Bengal, Odisha, as he would be buying 3 petrol stations in these three states, which would be in the route of his bus trips. He instructed Shyam that he would be giving him a car with a driver and his duty would be just to travel across these states to keep an eye on the petrol stations and manage them in order to maximize profits. Shyam was overwhelmed by this and couldn't thank Krishna more. Shyam sent his resignation the next day.
Now, the time was exactly 9:30 pm and Krishna knew that in order to stay in the game, he needs to play by the rules even if he didn't want to, therefore, even though he didn't want to leave the company of his 4 best cousins, he had to, because sometimes you need to sacrifice your craving in order to achieve something. He stood up, told everyone to have a wonderful night and that he got an important business to handle, he left with his four guards escorting him. He was surely sad to leave so early, but big guys know how to handle their feelings much better. And, this made such an impact on everybody, that each and every person in the party went after him to give their goodbyes, everyone surrounded his car trying to get his single picture, while his driver drove him off.
If this isn't the best impression one can make, I don't know what is. Well this isn't a surprise because Krishna knew how to own everybody.
The next day, everyone impressed and inspired started leaving at afternoon, with a very good impression of Krishna's success. But this isn't the only thing that makes 6th of April so special, This date also marks the beginning of the second year of Krishna's successful ventures.
On this day, Krishna took some serious decisions without any delay, with a steady income of around 10 lakhs each day, and a lot of money being stored in your bank accounts, you always have the confidence to take risks of your choice, and that's exactly what happened here. He met few of his friends who had experience in this field, gained knowledge about the risks, costs, profits and started calculating the capital. Even though it is cheaper to build your own petrol station as compared to buying the already running station, Krishna still decided to buy an already running petrol station from it's owner because he believed that it is not the cost that builds a successful petrol station but it is the years of trust gained by it's consumers and the locality everyone is used to. Therefore he bought the first station in Jharkhand, in the route in which one of his buses travelled and it turned out to be quite profitable since day 1, noticing this, Krishna made no further delays and travelled to West Bengal, in order to purchase his next station and with a little bit of bargaining was able to acquire another successful station in a short period of time and a few days after acquired another station in Odisha, he was unstoppable, if he was interested in a business and by 20th of April, he was the owner of the petrol stations that he had promised Shyam, and so Krishna immediately called him and handed him over the driver and car, he was promised, and Shyam wholeheartedly promised that he would discharge his duties with all his effort. At the end, you will realize that Shyam was always loyal to Krishna, and he was the only one Krishna had blind faith in. But the thing wasn't over he also had his buses running in paces like Delhi, So, he decided to buy another petrol station, but as he had already invested approximately 10 crores in the last three transactions. He thought about giving his expenditures a hold and believed that the profits coming out of the petrol stations would be able to fund the new station in approximately 1 year time. By this time his income had nearly doubled and he was earning around 20 lakhs a day which is more than enough to provide you with whatever you want in India.
Now, Krishna was a very respected guy, as he always paid the taxes and other legal payments, punctually and ethically. So, there was nothing for him to worry about, when so much of cash was stashing in his bank accounts. Just like that, he spent almost 10 months investing in nothing new just stashing money in his accounts and stashed more than 70 crores in his account in this time period and opened the only mall in his hometown which was his last major investment. This mall brought in 60 lakhs per month or 2 lakhs per day, thus increasing his daily income to Rs. 22,00,000/day and with that he finally decided to retire at a very early stage of life, In an interview in the news channel, he once said - "I always wanted to start a business, instead of a job because I wanted to quit working whenever I wanted to".
Today 33 years old Krishna writes about his story and business ventures to guide youngsters on how to start their own business and live the life everyone dreams of…
