Getting Ken Sorted

Now that Ken had gotten a skill book, he was now qualified for entry into the village.

As such, they briefly let Edgar go off on his own to grind, while Ken and Eidiri would go off and get him started off on his profession.

"We should diversify our classes, cover each other's bases, you know? Right now, I'm a forger, and as such, I can provide all sorts of armaments for us as long as I reach a certain level," Eidiri explained.

"The professions that we should develop are most definitely an alchemist and a cook," Eidiri further elaborated.

Ken then added his own input, "If we're going to have an alchemist, that should probably be left for Edgar. Think about it, if he wants to develop this rogue-like personality in-game, then things like poisons and such would probably be very useful, no?"

"All right, gimme a sec, I'll just ask him real quick," Eidiri said.

"Hey bro, you wanna become an alchemist when you can? It'll prob be very useful when you develop your rogue and all that," Eidiri asked, texting Edgar.

After a brief 30 second delay, Edgar then responded, "Yea, I'll pretty much be down for that. Issue is when I can actually enter the village though."

"We'll find another one of those skill-books. They say it's all difficult to get these books, and they are, trust me. But they're really only hard to obtain for those who have no foundation here. When you can hunt leaders like those, trust me, skills books will be a dime a dozen eventually," Eidiri affirmed.

"So you'll be an alchemist right?" Eidiri asked, checking to confirm Edgar's decision.

"Yep, yep. Anyways I'm gonna go do some solo-grinding real quick. Cya ltr," Edgar said his goodbyes.

"Kk then, cya dude," Eidiri responded.

Then Eidiri turned back towards Ken, "Alright he said he'll take the job."

"Okay, that's good I guess. Then I'll be the chef then?" Ken asked.

"I guess unless you don't want to be the chef that is?" Eidiri asked, making sure to keep his newfound friend's interests in mind.

"Nah, Nah it's fine, it's fine." Ken waved him off.

"So where do I go to get started?" he then asked.

"Well, first we're going to have to get you your permit into the village, and all that official stuff. Just follow me, I'll help you through it," Eidiri said, offering his help.

After all the official entry and testing to see Ken was qualified had been completed, Eidiri led him to where he had previously enjoyed that Steaming Bowl of SparkRabbit Stew, making idle conversation along the way.

"So how old are you anyway?" Eidiri asked.

"I'm 19 this year, freshman in college and all that. What bout you?" Ken responded.

"I'm your senior I guess, treat me with respect and all that", Eidiri waves air quotes around, "But Nah, I kid. I'm 21, currently attending college. Is Ken your real name by the way, or is that only in-game?"

The conversation continued until they had eventually come upon a relatively warm/inviting inn.

Eidiri bumped Ken's shoulder, "This is the place. Just act nice and all that, and we'll see bout getting you this job."

The slight jingle of a bell rang overhead as they pushed the door open, a hardwood interior greeting them.

Rows of tables dotted the main floor, chairs stacked on top of them, seeing how it wasn't quite mealtime yet.

A young lady was manning the counter, calling out orders to the chefs in the back kitchen.

Upon hearing the bell, she glanced up, "Good evening sweeties. It's not quite mealtime yet, so if you'll take a seat at one of the tables, we'll be able to serve a meal in about half an hour."

"Hey, Mrs. Gloria. Although a meal sounds great right about now, we're not just here for that," he motions at Ken, waving him over, "This here is my friend Ken. Right now he's looking for work right now and I thought that you'll be able to make use of him in your kitchens," Eidiri said.

After hearing this, Mrs. Gloria took another glance at Ken, looking at him from top to bottom, "Ever been in a kitchen?" she asked.

"I know my way around a kitchen fairly well," Ken replied.

"Well if you want to work here dearie, then who am I to reject you. We'll have a trial run for today, see if you're actually a good fit for this sort of thing. Alright?"

"Sounds good ma'am," Ken affirmed.

"Okay we if that's all said and done, you go to those doors right over there, today we're having EmberTurtle Soup, I'll explain it to you."

"All the ingredients are already prepped and while normally this process would take several hours, thanks to the special Condensation Flame will speed up the process," Mrs. Gloria further elaborated.

Seeing that Ken was in good hands with Mrs. Gloria, Eidiri decided to leave him to his device and go back to the forge to craft some more items, practically turning virtual steel into real-life gold.

Eidiri would check back on Ken later, but for now, he had a profession to grind out.

There were only 3 or so days until the ores came in, and he wanted to be prepared to work with higher-tier metals already.

The rhythmic clanging of the hammer on the anvil rang throughout the forge as Eidiri continued to harness the power of the Dwarven Son forging technique.

Back on Edgar's end, he was practically having a veritable blast experimenting with the new weapon they had got.

Deciding to explore around the village and get a basic sense of where things are, he would stab the monsters he encountered on the way, attempting to proc the poison effect.

When the poison proc-ed all he would need to do is stall for time, as they would succumb eventually and fall within the range in which a single swipe would finish them.

Running around he roamed through the Wild Dogs Territory, the Goblins Encampment, etc.

As he did this, he added to the map that Eidiri had given him, marking out where certain mobs where and what levels they were, as well as what they dropped (based on the little items he had received, most of it being rubbish).
