Chapter Sixteen.

It was the most horrible feeling. Nausea mixed with fear. I don't know how to describe it, she'd never appeared this dangerous before. She seemed to be shrouded in a dark hued aura that seemed to leak malice.

"How did you-" I asked.

"-Get in here?" She stated completing my question for me. "Well for starters am not really here, sweetie."

Augmented reality!

"And this place has no security, whatsoever... For the defense force's headquarters I find it severely lacking."

She stepped forward, "you know you put me in a bind back there when you disobeyed me." She frowned "I could have died, you.... Could have died and I don't mean by my hand." Her expression softened a little.

The sound of her shoes seemed to echo in the small room as she walked towards me but I knew better.

"There's so much I wanted to tell you..." She sat on the table and

Ran her fingers through my hair then letting them brush lightly against my lips.

I cast a glance at her.

"did you know that by the year 2015 the world was severely overpopulated?" she smiled at me "the government of course found a solution to it, they implant machines inside us when we're born."

"You mean like the retina display?" i cut in "what's that got to do with anything?" she shook her head and continued.

"The heart, eyes, lungs and brain of every single person in this country, are all controlled by gia corp." she sighed a little " and i was no exception, that is till you freed me."

"What are you talking about?" i asked, i was getting more and more confused by the moment.

"You probably don't love me but believe me when i say that everything ive done up until now was for your sake," she was frowning again "we've all had active kill switches placed in our bodies from the moment we were born. Four of them to be exact, sure mine were offline from before but yours aren't."

I couldn't believe she'd go this far, just to trick me again.

"what's wrong with you? do you expect me to believe that? you made me kill people!"

"Then, do you want proof?" she asked and then "here." she touched my forehead.

I wanted to pull away but I couldn't. -what the hell was that?-

"i modified you retina display, so now you'll be able to see the truth, you'll be able to see that every one around you has four micro receivers." she got off the table and sighed.

"I have things to do now that i am completely free from gia corp. I can finally hurt them without hurting anyone else." She frowned a little "if you want to escape you can disable everyone here via their kill switches, even though It'll only be temporary, it should be enough to cause anyone to have seizure, so... escape."

she glanced at me with a hint of sadness and then

"if, you want to know more then meet me by the stone statue in the town square at the fountain at midnight... if you don't want to see me again then i understand and I promise to never appear in front of you again. I have created a path for you to escape."

She looked longingly at me and then,

"I'm sorry I couldn't keep our promise."

As soon as she said that my vision cleared and my connection to the network disappeared and so did she.

Almost like reality it self fizzed away...

My breathing was hard and ragged and for a while it was all I could do to fight the urge to puke. I was sweating again.

Was she telling the truth? It was strange, when she touched my forehead, it was as if our memories synced. Even if it was only for a little, and at that time... I remembered something, something that couldn't be possible. Shouldn't be possible...

No I refuse to believe it.

I mean, if what I saw was true, then. My, my memories...

No, it can't be...
