There Was Something Weird About That Phone Call

Roman was exhausted after a long day of meetings that he didn't particularly care about. He hated his job. There was nothing good about it at all.

Having his name attached to the building didn't matter to him one bit. That was his parents' pride, not his. His parents. When was the last time he even talked to them? Was it when they were in town visiting three months ago and insisted on taking him to dinner?

He sighed. Thinking about them was useless. It always put him in a bad mood. He was only slaving away behind this desk because he didn't know how to say no to them.

His family. The people who were supposed to love him.

Roman had never once felt real love from his parents, who were distant and too busy with their lives as socialites to care about him. It only got worse since he took over the hospital from his father and they moved to Florida.
