A Long-Distance Thing

It was a really good thing Penelope had Thursday off to recover because Friday was absolute torture. She was not adequately prepared for her first day working both jobs. Eighteen hour days were not in her repertoire AT ALL.

She was mentally worn out from all the frustrated customers—though thankfully none were as abusive as the guy on her first day at Vitacall—and still had to force herself to be on her feet for another six hours.

How. How did her other self manage to do this day after day? She had to work both jobs Monday, Tuesday, Friday, and Saturday.

Penelope was completely burned out after doing this once and still had to do it again tomorrow. She managed to hold back her tears this time but barely.

She was still emotionally drained after running into Harry. She had nothing left to give but somehow functioned on autopilot. Maybe this was how Other Penelope did it. Existing and getting things done because she had to and nothing more.
