Did He Like Her?

Feeling safe enough to turn back around, Penelope furrowed her brow as she examined his face. "I don't think I've ever seen your resting face. You've been plenty smiley with me."

Roman shrugged. "I didn't say I never smile. I only do it when I'm genuinely amused by something. You happen to be very funny."

Everything she had said or done since meeting him at the restaurant the other day flashed through her head. She could think of quite a few embarrassing things but nothing particularly amusing…unless he had the same sense of humor she did.

How could that be? Other Roman's sense of humor was the same as hers because he and his wife had grown up together. It didn't make sense that it would develop independently on this side.

"What about me is funny?" Penelope asked hesitantly.

"Ah, it's hard to explain. You just are."
