Other Factors At Play

Percy had been a child when this all started but he was an adult now. Penelope supposed the mindset of wanting to protect him from getting hurt had never changed. She had wanted more for him than what she had been stuck with.

She wasn't sure how he was processing his grief aside from trying to ignore it. She hadn't wanted to tell him what she learned about how their father might have been saved because she was afraid it would upset him.

"It really affected me so I didn't see the point in making you upset too. But you're right, I have been treating you like a child and I'm sorry for that. I can tell you if you want," she said quietly.

Percy huffed and crossed his arms over his chest, still mad at her. "Fine."
