Amanya couldn't sleep any longer, the night seemed to be longer than ever. She woke up even before the crocks cooed and the stars and moon were still intact in the dark sky. She waited at the balcony which has a direct view to the front gate. The house maids slowly got up in the morning and were busy with their chores. Soon after, Alok joined his di. He cuddled her hands tightly. He was silent but was simply enjoying her company. They watched together the slow transition of the sky from dark to burning red and light blue. They were still waiting.
Almost at eight, she heard the neighing of horses. She got up at once. They were really tired. His expressions were what she cared for most but it was hard for her. Yuvan simply walked past her.
Looking at their state she waited for them to freshen up. She wanted to ask them even though she already knew the answers.
"How was it? Did you get him?" She asked Abhik and Charan.
"No di... We were double crossed."
"Huh? What do you mean by double crossed."
"Virat was captured first."
"How is your bruddah?" She was worried about him as he was in the garden from the moment he arrived.
"You could see it. He..."
She walked towards the garden. Her steps were smaller compared to her heart which raced ahead. She slowly caressed his shoulders and tried to talk with him.
"It's fine. You will find it? Are you worried about the prince." She wanted to get his attention quicker.
"Actually, I am not sad."
"Lord, you know you can stop it. Amai is a powerful country. She won't push it."
"Apu, I actually admire her."
"Admire?? But..."
"You just mentioned it. Amai is the most powerful country after Hiranga. Their best competitor. Yet she avenged her comrades without caring about the aftermath. I admire her dedication and courage."
"But... you were really angry"
" You clearly know the reason." He paused the chat and looked at her slyly. She knew what he meant. He patted her head and stood up. "Since this matter comes to an end I will inform the prince. Maybe he won't go after it as she had a just reason and indirectly helped Amai eliminate two corrupt officers. As for the mess she created, the prince will find a way."
As he started to differentiate between the crowned prince and himself, she was sure that his mind was at peace. She was happy. Her task in Amai is over. Now it's time to plan her return. She took a deep breath.
"Lord, Can I take Alok for a walk. Its long time since we spent time together."
"Yes. Of course. Should I accompany you?"
"Hmm... " Looking at her hesitation he understood, "ok, I am not coming. But bring Charan with you. It's dangerous outside."
They went out in the evening. Alok was talking to all of them endlessly, especially to her. It seemed somewhat out of his character. The rate of talking was usually between Abhik and Ashok but today he seemed to be a hyper excited form of Abhik. Yuvan discussed the autopsy of Dhawan. Suddenly they heard a voice and felt like a commotion outside. They rushed to the door and saw the maids in a group and some were rushing in. They stopped before him, "Lady.." They pointed towards the group.
He stroked, and saw her weeping. He cuddled her, "Apu what happened?" He was too anxious. Her red and burning eyes scared him as he had never seen her in such a situation.
"Alok...
Alok is missing.."
