8. Who Are You

For a moment the two simply stood there. The woman didn't answer his question and he didn't know what else to say. For the first time in a long time, Nick became unable to speak. Looking into her eyes, he felt a sense of longing.

"You really don't recognize me, do you little brother?" Sorrow filled the woman's eyes and sadness clouded her beauty when she asked this. The kind of sadness that comes from true heartbreak. A sadness that pierces the emotions of all whom look onto it.

For a moment, Nick felt as if he was looking on the brother he'd lost so many years ago. But that only deepened his confusion. "I'm sorry but no. For a moment you reminded me of my older brother buy I lost him years ago." Sadness began blackening his heart as he was reminded of that God forsaken day.

"What brother idiot? How could you spend so many years at my side and still think I'm a guy!?" The woman became infuriated. With no warning she grabbed the collar of Nick's shirt and shoved her face in front of his. Their eyes became deadlocked.

It took a minute for what she said to process in his head. Suddenly, Nick's eyes grew in disbelief. Without breaking eye contact he placed his right hand on her cheek and with tears forming in his eyes ask "Jin?"

A beaming smile grew across her face as she released her brothers collar. Ecstatic from his question, she wrapped her arms around his back and buried her face on his chest. She didn't answer his question but couldn't help but repeat in her mind over and over again 'I found him.'

Breaking free from her brace, Nick brought her inside and closed the door behind them. Nosy ears are constant no matter where you go. He knew this all to well. "Where have you been all this time?"

As she sat on the couch, Jin looked back at her brother with sorrowful eyes. "Looking for you. A piece of me wanted to believe you'd not made it after I saw you running away that day. But the rest of me never gave up. It took a while for me to separate from the pack but once I did I looked."

Astonishment filled his face as he looked at his sister. Not only did he just find out his brother was actually a woman but she was alive. She was there that day and saw him running like a coward. Regret filled his mind as he cursed himself for thinking she was gone forever. Hatred replaced it when he thought of how he'd just given up and left. He was fully disgusted with himself and wouldn't forgive himself.

All he could do now was apologize. "I'm sorry, for everything. For not going with you like you'd asked that day. For not seeing you on the crowd and fighting to save you. For cowering away and leaving you behind. Thinking you were gone...everything. I'm sorry." Tears ran down his face as he wollowed in his own self pity.

"Idiot, you think I blamed you for any of that? You did what you had to do. You survived. WE survived! It doesn't matter how he time has passed for the two of us because we're together again." As she finished speaking her mind, Jin took her brother's face in her hands and brought his forehead to her lips. Time did not waver the feelings she'd had all those years ago. Seeing him yet again only brought joy to her heart.
