Crossroads (2)

Ja Yin was in a great dilemma. She's always been a beast. It wasn't a manner of behavior or anything but just her existence. She is a spirit beast. That's all. Finding a sturdy tree that would bear the brunt of the overwhelming confusion and conflict she felt at the time, she sat on one of its branches and threatened the nest of birds away for the time being— wanting to be alone with her thoughts.

Funnily enough, she couldn't help but recall her first interaction with him. To this day, she doesn't know how he had her core with him. Oh, it was her core indeed. No other Three-eyed Golden Lion has had the evil attribute of destiny before her, after all. But despite the suspicions, she found him trusting enough. That's the beauty of peering into each other's memories.

For Ja Sun, Ja Yin realized that he only had two pieces of memory that he considered above all.

First was the sight of a gloomy man sitting in front of a desk with something cylindrical-ended in his hand pointed towards Ja Sun before he died... that she understood. Ja Sun was an otherworldly being. But it concerned her far less than his second most important memory of a hand through his chest under a moonlit night as a peerless figure still held a captivating smile on her face...

It was concerning indeed. The two most important memories of his life... lives, constituted him dying... But she began to adapt to his nature. Only that. Adapt. In reality... she didn't take on his personality to a degree she let others imagine, no. Far from it... she wanted to see what a life she may have if only... she found the concept of death more exhilarating than something to defy.

And slowly, she was truly enamored by him. A beast she was. Her instincts kicked in at the worst and ironically the best of times to want to have him. She must... her scent lingered on his very soul after the refinement and evolution of their martial souls and bloodline. And his scent was on her. He knew that. He must have sensed it, too. And only after meeting Ah Yin did the 'Ja Variant' realize that yes... Ah Yin was in a class of her own. However, admittedly, Ja Yin felt she could do much better... well, she would need time to train...

But... the news of there not being any possible result of IT with him was disastrous enough even to concern her, and him. Else, he would not have made it a task to make things clear in front of everybody.

'A human or a beast...'

Again, while Ja Sun was easily a beast in human skin, a fact proved not only by his accomplishments but also his preference to stay in his spirit transformation than his original self, Ja Yin, who resembled such a transformation, too, felt that it wasn't easy being a beast in his manner if she didn't keep her heritage and how would she be any different from Ah Yin if she turned human?

Granted, the attribute of Destiny came with many, many benefits. The ability to tweak someone's luck like Violet at a small price was simply one of these abilities. She could become a human if she wishes to in a matter of a snap of her fingers... again, she would stand to lose something in return. This time, her accumulated strength.

So, it was truly time to set her priorities straight. Coincidentally, she was free today with Ja Sun going on a pleasure hunt with a few of his teammates so it allowed her to think now.

With one fuzzy paw under her elbow and the other one over her chin, Ja Yin grew thoughtful. She could continue to act like a brat and throw a tantrum but honestly, she was above that... probably. Well, no, not if the Lady of the Lake herself hadn't called Ja Yin out on that.

She was at a crossroads here and the path in front of her forked out to either continue to stay a spirit beast or become a human. No, she didn't think she could screw up by trying and becoming like a certain lamia with a human mutation. It was too uncertain.

How would he consider the situation?

Well, ordinarily, Ja Yin thought that Ja Sun would leave things to chance and just screw the hell up. But... he made it explicitly clear that this was one of the things he didn't take casually. No, he was dead serious. As frivolous as his announcement felt, he made it clear.

He wouldn't risk things in this regard. At all.

So a serious moment of thought revealed that being a beast would mean that first, she keeps her current strength. She is indeed strong. Her body was constantly absorbing energy at a breakneck pace and she might just reach the 100000 years of cultivation in a few hundred years. But once she reaches that state, she would be offered the same thing again. To remain a beast or a human.

Then, every 100000 years' worth of cultivation would lead to a tribulation...

'Fucking shit... just how many benefits humans have...'

Ja Yin realized this belatedly. Sure, when it comes to raw capabilities and talents including physical strength, spiritual maneuverability, and instincts— a spirit beast always outshone humans.

But humans are blessed with cognition at an early age and beasts only gain a semblance of it after reaching 10000 years of cultivation if not 1000.

But that wasn't the issue...

Humans only face tribulation once they try to breakthrough through their mortality. They have the added advantage of holding the potential to reach the same cultivation as a 100000-year-old beast in just a hundred years of cultivation. But this was just one of the many advantages. Humans, by right and not power, dominated the current trend of the world. She still considered Ja Sun an exception. He wasn't a human. He was wild and untamed.

Again, Ah Yin's face appeared in front of Ja Yin... and she gritted her teeth. Well, one could tame him but that still didn't change the fact that he was a beast in her eyes.

However, biological facts argued with her thoughts with valid concerns.

Who would want to ruin an innocent life just because they couldn't keep it in their furry panties?

As heated as Ja Yin had exhibited herself to be... she wasn't the kind to be that irresponsible. She shared his vision. She wanted a lot of cubs... nay, children.

Releasing a tired sigh, mentally exhausted by the dilemma, she concluded that it did make sense to turn into a human when concerned with the larger picture... but like many beasts, she was reluctant.

Ambition coursed through her veins, too. Why can't she surpass the shackles that hold her down and defy the gods who constructed these shackles with her own strength? What is her Ultimate Strength attribute for? Decorations?

So really, the conflict stemmed from her desire and ambitions.

In her silent and deeply focused state, she failed to anticipate and sense the new arrival.

"You are thinking too much," A monotone broke Ja Yin's contemplative state and she looked back with a frown towards the new arrival. Her fuzzy ears and tail perked up visibly.

"Oh, Liu Erlong, right?" Ja Yin muttered as Erlong easily jumped and landed rather gracefully on the branch next to Ja Yin.

"What are you doing here?" Ja Yin inquired and then corrected herself, "No... why are you here?"

"I don't know... I just saw you throwing that tantrum... and felt that it wasn't wrong... Whoever told you off must be really strong, too. You've got Yin's face and that means something. The fact that you survived Yin also means you're strong."

"Stronger than you," Ja Yin scoffed as Erlong began oozing her bloodlust, revealing her canines, "We'll see that later."

"But... I don't know why I followed you. There's really no reason to help you but then again, I have been helped by plenty. They had no reason to help me either... But I know one thing, just because you suddenly found that something isn't viable doesn't mean you're out of options. Getting angry at these moments is just natural. Heh, I would know..."

Unimpressed, Ja Yin crossed her arms under her breasts, pushing them up and together, "And? I don't need pointless relatability from someone as lustful for blood as you."

Unfazed, Erlong muttered, "Doesn't change the fact that you could use some help."

"Aren't you the wild one of the pack? If I want suggestions, I will stick with Sister Bi Ji, Bibi Dong, or that blue-haired Yuehua. Off with you."

A vein popped over Erlong's temple. Truly, both the individuals with the Ja surname are insufferable bastards!

"Fine, stay the bitch you are constantly waggling your ass for his attention. I'll be right here to enjoy the sight as he finds more individuals except you!"

"Fuck off!" Ja Yin scoffed.

"Hmph, well, no point in staying here then. I thought you knew that if someone finds you attractive, it is because of the qualities you have at the moment. But Nah, go ahead. Fucking change to the whims of a man that has constant mood swings. I am sure he'll enjoy you being the toy that can be molded."

Ja Yin blinked in surprise. Just as Erlong turned to leave, Ja Yin called out, "Alright, wait... I'm interested."

"Hoh? It doesn't work like that. Now apologize for before and then maybe I will share my thoughts," Erlong crossed her hands and demanded but she should have seen Ja Yin grinning as despicably as Ja Sun and admitting loss from miles away to get what she wanted.

"Fine, I am sorry~! Now?"

"Tch... aren't you his student of sorts? I think he surpassed his master and even if you probably can't hold a candle to him... doesn't he always find solutions to his problems. This time, it wasn't his problem. Why should he fret over something that hasn't even happened? Instead of just being constantly, you know, trapped by the thought of becoming a beast...

Shouldn't you learn from him and find a way to do as you desire?"

Ja Yin blinked before she started to chuckle and then laugh loudly.

"Ahhh~ I see what this is! You're fucking projecting on me! Hah! Sweetcheeks, want some of him, huh? Trying to gain courage by saying cheeky things out loud? Well... I like it!" Ja Yin stood up and cornered Erlong with her taller frame back on the trunk of the tree. Ja Yin's large melons were right in Erlong's face as she blushed and scowled.

"Hell, no! Who would want him?!"

"Hmm... then maybe I have a shot at you." Ja Yin leaned down. While similar to Ah Yin... the animalistic and raw charm was right up Erlong's alley as her cheeks grew hotter.

"But... Nah. No fun in teasing you, all alone."

Ja Yin jumped down the tree and winked at Erlong, "Not gonna let his fears get in my way!"

As Ja Yin left, more confident in staying a beast than ever, Erlong sighed in exhaustion. She was now left conflicted herself.

"Shit... I just wanna punch him... yeah, that'll make me feel better," Erlong muttered, fully knowing she would fail but still get something in return... even if she was 'reluctant' about it.

A/N: What do you guys think? Should they actually turn to human? If they don't, would that mean that their affection is shallow or just changing oneself to the whims of even the loved ones is simply not right?

And most importantly, Ja Yin strap on x Erlong x Yuehua x Ja Sun?

Wait... Ja Yin should also get a teachable moment with Ah Yin, huehehehe~

Hmm... ah, Yuehua is still slight more complicated. Let's hope I can actually give her character the development she deserves in the later chapter on what are your thoughts about Bo Saixi? The harem and the potential harem already feels... large...

Hmm, oh, and Erlong x Violet x Ja Yin where the poor Lamia is bullied while Ja Sun enjoys the sight like a proper master he is~
