The Gift(4)

The most boring week of this life finally came to pass and the fun began.

I finally found a place to put my gear when I don't use it. Since I have a wooden floor in my room and beneath it are pipes it was pretty easy to find a space in the floor empty enough to place my equipment.

The materials and pieces for the upgrades I wanted to make to the gear finally came. I was ecstatic, and since I already knew how the suit and the gloves worked it was only a matter of time before I made my dream equipment.

We finally went on our first mission with Wu and it was amazing. The rush I got when I was on the motorcycle was amazing although none of us knew how to drive and we were the passengers, Wu promised that in the following weeks he's going to teach us how. The mission was to beat and capture some street thugs. It was so easy that it wasn't worth mentioning the fact that they tried to put up resistance. We then took them to Aman and he congratulated us and lead us to a room where more recruits were and showed us his ability to strip bending away. It was quite amazing even if I knew he could do that. The only bad problem was that the others started to eat his bullshit like it was candy. After we came home we had a discussion about benders and that not all of them are evil or bad people and I gave as example Bolin and Mako since they were our friends and we discussed that as long as innocents didn't get hurt we will still help the Equalists.

Even if we entered the brotherhood that didn't mean we could slack off on training. It was the opposite in fact. Since we were a part of something bigger we needed to learn to work together and learn combos to fight more powerful benders. The strategy was for the team to be formed with three-five people and only one person to fight the bender per say, the team captain, the other are there for support. The cool thing was that master made all us team captains. At first, the older members were pissed about this decision but when Master Wu put them to fight with us they quickly fell in line.

I became a little famous. Since I started modifying my suit, one of the modifications I first made was thermal vision which made my goggles shine red, and the way I took down my enemies, without mercy, lead to me becoming known as Blood Eyed Spirit. I found it funny since I didn't take part in that many missions but when the crooks saw my goggles turn red they knew my name. That made the others envious especially Kai, but they calmed down after a while without me doing anything.

At home things were good, grandma calmed down and she let me help in the shop more again. Since my birthday was coming we begun to make preparations, we invited my friends and that's about it. Naomi wanted to invite Tenzin, Pema, and their kids because they liked me so much and Pema was a family friend. I was reluctant at first since I have only seen Tanzen a huge total of two times and I didn't like the kids much because they were too noisy. After some debating, we came to the conclusion that we were going to have a small dinner with them the day before the party.

The following weeks to my birthday quickly passed. At night I would go beat crooks with the Equalists and at day I would work on my gear and prepare for my birthday.

The day before my birthday we had lunch with Pema's family. I was still surprised they accepted. Tenzin isn't well known for attending gatherings so when he came as well it was surprising, to say the least. The entire dinner we talked about the air benders and their philosophy. I didn't expect to have such a good time talking with the air bending master, while I remember him being an uptight and stubborn person I discovered he wasn't like that at all. While we discussed certain topics where we had different opinions he didn't rebuke me or say my opinion was wrong he tried to understand my point of view. Mostly we had the same opinions about the air bending culture and while I didn't have a very profound knowledge I still could have a discussion with him. I think in the end we both left the dinner pretty happy. He even praised my knowledge and my way of thinking. He said that if I wanted to become an air acolyte the door of Air Temple Island will always be open, but I politely declined, saying that I want to stay a little more in Republic City to help grandma.

It was a very pleasant dinner in the end that exceeded all my expectations.
