Chapter seventeen: Control Part 1

Tom called up the stairs for Cynthia and Conrad. "Please come down. We found the warlock AND witch to train you. Yes, a warlock AND a witch...BOTH!"

"Cynthia, ready?" Conrad winked at her.

She smiled, "Let's go!"

Conrad and Cynthia held hands and walked out to meet the new visitors.

"Greetings, Alpha, Luna." a charming, tall, slender man said bowing low. "I am Herold, Warlock supreme. It is my honor to meet you.I am at your service."

Cynthia and Conrad both looked at one another surprised at this warlocks respect and deference.

"Ride, Herald. No need for such formalities between us. We are in need of your help." Conrad said.

"Yes. I am aware. Much magical power resides within you both."

Someone cleared their throat behind Herold. He stepped aside and behold there was a small, petite woman (maybe 5' if she stood very straight). She was dressed in purple and black. Black hair braided to the side...pale skin and eyes as black as night. "Greetings your. Majesties.I am Glenda, of the Mountain ridge coven. I have come to prepare you for the coming battle. You magic is strong but undisciplined. I can feel that."

Cynthia was taken aback by her calling them "your majesties" ... what was that about? No one had been told the prophecy. "I am aware of the prophecy. It was my Mother who foresaw your coming. It was she who had the pendants you wear now prepared and given to her Majesty, your mother, King Conrad."

Conrad Lifted his left eyebrow a bit surprised at Glenda calling him King.

He cleared his voice and said to both,"What's first? Let us not waste any time."

Glenda and Herald looked at one another and laughed. Herald addressed the royal King and Queen,"We begin after a rest and lunch, your highnesses."

"Oh yes,how rude of us. You must be exhausted from travel...or did you teleport? Nonetheless, here ...follow Simon, our Beta up to your rooms. We eat in about an hour. "

Both Glenda, the witch and Herald, the warlock bowed and followed Simon.

"Conrad?"

"Yes, my love?"

"Are you ready for round one?"

"Let's go!"

Out on the lawn in back of the pack house, Glenda, Herald, Conrad and Cynthia under the watchful eyes of Simon and Timothy, the training began.

Herald began, "First rule, NO shifting to wolf form."

Conrad grimaced. He knew Leo would not like that news one bit. Cynthia scowled. "Why?" demanded Cynthia.

Herald explained, "You are trained in your wolf form. This is about learning to access and control your other abilities, magic, elemental powers."

Cynthia understood as did her wolf, Athena. But Conrad looked disturbed. And his wolf, Leo, was giving him a very hard time.

"Humph! No wolf? What? Does he want you to die!"

Conrad tended to agree with Leo. He was an Alpha. The leader of one of two of the largest picks in the world. He had won battle after battle with his wolf, beside other wolves. No wolf? No. Conrad felt very awkward and vulnerable. How could he ever protect Cynthia and his pack not shifting to his wolf? Leo growled and wanted to take over and show this warlock just what a wold could do against his stupid magic. Cynthia felt Conrad's internal tense and irritation through their mate bond. She touched Conrad's arm and he breathed in.He did not even realize he was holding his breath, something he did when he was growing enraged. Cynthia never even looked at Conrad but instead spoke to Harald and Glenda.

"We are werewolves, first. Telling an Alpha(which both of us are) we cannot use our wolf form is like telling a fish not to swim."

"Majesty, I understand that. However, you are more than a werewolf. You are both Royals and have other powers than brute strength and tremendous speed and fantastic eyesight even at night. You have other powers. Ma'am, we know you have all 4 of the elemental powers.Sir, we know you have at least immunity to fire and teleportation and mind persuasion..."

Conrad cut him off. " We know that how?"

Herald.rolled his eyes. "I felt them just now wanting to surface. I needed to use much power to keep from being thrown through a portal for telling you no wolf form and I had to push back when you tried to enter my mind to convince me to change my mind. On the battlefield when her Majesty burned up the rogues, you were not burned, not any sign of being burned at all. What else you have within you we do not know yet. So we must insist that your wolves DO NOT come forward while we train you in your other powers." Herald.was beginning to feel upset. Why were they resisting the obvious!?

Glenda sighed, smiled at Cynthia and askes: "Do you understand now?"
