Amy and Tommy (Barron's friends) are at the gate with the cab driver. They were thrilled that I was joining them. They even told that they would win because of me. But the tables had turned I thought. My relatives were interfering saying that my father was being stupid and sending me off. As if they knew me better than my father did. This was all due to my father's younger sister' son. He is barely eighteen years old and he is about to get married to his girlfriend. So the story goes like this, the girl's family unknowingly had arranged a marriage to a guy living in Qatar. After my cousin (who is really pious according to his mother) sent out photos to the guy saying that they were together and he almost blackmailed him out. The girl's family rushed to get the girl married to this cousin brother before their reputation is off set to sail. It is said that he had had s** with the girl and blah blah, according to one of my realtive. The girl's family was disappointed mainly by the cousin's height, which is true. Moreover he has no job or a mere education as the girl's family is from a prestige family. The girl's family said that they will make him work in their factory and sighed. And now they are comparing me to that little weasel out nowhere. Like come on! I am working my butt of and staying up all night writing and practicing and this is how they are going to destroy me. It is now or never.
"Can you all shut up?!" My sister's in-laws were present too. "I and my family thought through and have taken a decision. I am going to attend a contest. It has nothing to do with my major but my passion and I am helping my fellow University-mate. I am Minier's daughter not yours, so I would not do anything that harms my family's name. I did not get married because I am not ready for it. My parents respected my decision and they are okay with it. I do not care what others think just my parents. I kindly request do not interfere in our family decisions. You all did not even invite your brother when you were looking for a spouse for your children just like that my dad does not have to ask you all to send me to Korea. He is capable and I believe in him." They were shocked. This was the first time I ever talked back. They complained that I was talking back now. For my surprise my sister's father-in-law spoke, "For just past few days when I talked with Anna. I know she is a wonderful girl. Send her off. She will bring victory." My mother-in-law agreed and gave me money. My brother-in-law took my luggage and put it the trunk of the cab and were talking with my new friends. My mother hugged and promised me call her every 6 hours or leave a message. My mother's brothers' family did not object but to send me off. At last my father spoke, "I have given my word and that is it. I trust my daughter and I have bought her up really well. She has never been in any sort of relationship and deceived me in any means." He finished looking at his sister. My family hugged me and I left.
"I thought you were not going to make it" Amy spoke breaking the tension. I sighed. "We hardly got my parents to agree." "Seriously what is their problem?" "I got no idea." Tommy spoke, "I love the way your sister's in-laws broke in to the fight and gave you money to get snacks. That was legit! Like on your face!" We laughed. "I thought I was not going to make it." "You know you were scary just now. Like now I understand when Steven and Barron say, 'Do not make her angry.'" Amy added. I looked out at the window, I was really leaving. I closed my eyes to get a nap. I wanted a more peaceful exit and a good luck wave.
We got off the cab. I messaged my mother that we had arrived the airport and we will board the plane in fifteen minutes. We were late because of the drama back at my house. I could not ask what happened there now. We are almost late.
It was not my first time boarding the plane so I was not scared about it. But the two beside me were almost tearing me to pieces. I was sitting in between them. "Guys, chill. Have some gum." I plugged in earphones and went to sleep with all the screaming.
