A Fated Meeting (VI)

"Don't hurt him!" a yell that came from far away surprised me, it was that girl.

What's she doing here? I told her to stay at home.

She came running and put herself between the beast and me.

"... run" I think I was able to say. At this moment I wasn't sure if I could talk.

"Don't attack him! Stand back demon!" screamed in his direction. He stayed still looking at us, shocked by the sudden appearance.

No, go. I must do something, I must find a way to do it. My body is motionless, red tears flood my eyes and change the perspective of my surroundings. I stretch my hand trying to grasp the slight life I got left. But there is only dirt.

Suddenly I felt a little burn on my forehead. She had turn around and hugged my head tightly. A strange heat travelled all my body.

"..." I was already unable to say any word.

"Please! Don't kill him too!" said while crying.

Slowly my strengths came back, my pain stayed behind and my wounds healed miraculously.

How could this be? A faint light appeared on her chest. A beautiful crystal in the shape of a diamond of cyan colour was hanging from her neck, it emits a glow that resonates with me and heals me. I see, she also is a chosen by the light.

I'm recovering bit by bit, I mustn't waste this chance. Now I can face him. This girls effort won't be in vain. She had saved me 2 times already, I need to return the favour!

Without noticing my left hand had a strange thing on it, like a little stone. When I tried to analyze it through my glove with my tact it seemed to disintegrate. Can it be? I don't have time to lose. The creature lost its patience and came with the intention of finishing both of us.

I touched slightly the cheek of the girl and cleaned her tears.

"Thanks, you have saved me again" I said while she cried on silence. I stand up and put her away. "This time I wont' let you down"

I run forwards the beast to leave her as far as possible.

The demon quickly went to attack me with his claw.

Inside my left hand I felt a new shine. This is the light of a new hope, a new road that will lead me to victory. The bright filled completely my thumb and all my body is filled by a strange sensation.

I evade easily the blow and it gave me the chance to counter with a strong punch to the face. He screamed in pain and it made him go back a few steps. His look shows surprise because of my agile movement. I'm also shocked.

I check my glove again and confirm that the light gathered on my thumb is still active. My body feels lighter, it gave me the confidence to keep going.

This time is my turn, I go to him with a decisive attitude. He started to spin and hit me with his tail but I jumped and stepping on his chest I managed to go up enough to cross over him and landing a punch with my fist in his head. The force plus the repulse seemed to have caused a lot of damage, he almost lost balance.

Now he looks very angry. He approached and with a lot of speed tried to scratch me with his claws, nevertheless I managed to contort my body and move to the side without problems. My enemy doesn't give up and turned to attack with his tail, I step aside a second time. Enraged it keeps going again and again without even touching me.

This new skill give me the ability to move with extreme ease, it's like my motor skills had peaked in the higher level possible and let me move my muscles to their limits, reacting immediately as I order them to do it, maybe even to the point where I can't consider it possible for a human being.

After some constant tries the beast looked tired, so I take advantage on one of his openings to hit him directly in the leg. When it started to lost balance I hurried to give a punch in the back, this way it fell to the floor.

I placed myself on him crushing his body to provoke it, calling once more the whirlpool of light. From it came the familiar handle that I pulled to bury my sword on the body of the creature, he roared because of the wound.

"Checkmate, demon" I said while the energy in my index finger finished charging while I aimed to his head just a few centimetres away.

The lizard had an annoyed look but then I saw a expression of resignation. Of all the creatures I had discovered this one is the most peculiar by far, I almost can sense the agony that he must feel in this instant to know that he found and opponent that will finally end his life.

Even so there is no more time for doubts. I ended up killing him from a shot that emanates from the tip of my finger. His corpse starts to vanish little by little.

"You killed him?"

"Yeah. It wasn't an easy task, I owe you again"

"It's nothing, really..."

The girl slowly get close to my side and sees the scenario with me. We stayed a few seconds on silence.

"Let's go home" I said stretching my hand, she nodded and took it firmly.
