The Trial of the Possibilities (V)

"... well done. You are approved"

"It wasn't easy" I answered. "Although you had been giving me hints since a long time, I think you were expecting that I noticed"

"Perhaps I have said too much. There has been centuries since the last time I have talked to someone else. I was right to put my eyes on you, you are truly worthy. Certainly I have checked your determination"

In that instant the shadow vanished without a trace.

"Eh? Where did you go?"

Little sparkles appeared floating around me. The scattered fragments started to gather in front of me, joining slowly into a single figure.

"Congratulations" said a familiar voice.

Behind me a person showed up. He was wearing a blue tunic similar in appearance to an ancient wizard, light covered most of his face.

"You are..."

Without a doubt is the same shadow as before. Is this his true form?

"You have awakened this forgotten Object from its eternal slumber and being accepted as his new owner. Now I will name you as the owner of the [Subete wo kiru Kanousei wo motsu Ken]. This sword holds the potential to cut everything in existence"

"Cut everything in existence?"

That sounds so cool, however, isn't that just a little exaggerated?

"In fact, although do not be deceived by those words. It contains the potential to do it, if it is fulfilled or not it depends of his carrier. Now you are a Seeker, one who goes in the search of the Objects. Will they gather? Or will they never be reunited? In this moment you have the power to make your choice"

"You said something like that before. What did you mean by that? What's that Object stuff you keep talking about?"

"I guess the Irregular doesn't have any idea how big his destiny is, neither you have followed the established protocols to see me"

"What kind of protocols?"

"You have not entered the place of distortion, have not summon neither respond the call of the challenge. As a Holder myself I feel a little offended for so much you have ignored. On the other hand, I was sleeping for all this time... I do not care anymore"

So many concepts that I don't know are making my head to spin.

Holder, Seeker and Object. He speaks to me like those were the most natural things, but I don't have any clue of what is he referring...

Wait, I think I heard something similar. No, I read it somewhere. Yes, it was back then.

I looked inside my waist bag and there it was a little notebook, the one I found in that destroyed house in the hands of a person. I took it without noticing and store it all this time having forget about it completely.

According to me it said some nonsense about summoning a spirit or made a pact with the devil, although if what it says it's true, then perhaps this can be the key.

I opened it and started to read it with detail, going through the pages I hadn't see before. It has a lot of dense information and complex terminology, also it's telling a weird story with enough detail...

In summary, it would be something like this.

Since the beginning of time there has been myths about the creation of the universe and the things that could had happen in that mysterious past.

One of that legends tell the birth of the Objects. Strange tools of diverse forms, characteristics and abilities that have been scattered in other plain of existence much superior than this. Their real number has been forgotten, only a few hundred are active and the rest is lost.

Nobody knows how this stories arrived to the ears of human kind, but the important thing is that it didn't prevent them from searching desperately for a way to get a hold on this incredible artifacts. Many lost their lives on vain trying to fulfill that feat.

However it exist a small possibility that a human being is blessed by the chance and is able to find a way to access temporally in a gap that unites both realities.

In this place there will be someone who waits for a potential candidate, which will need to arm himself with courage and show his determination answering to accept the challenge. That's not enough, since he needs to clear a specific test dictated by the guardian of the Object, the Holders.

These beings escape human comprehension and you must do whatever it takes to keep their rules, on the contrary it's unknown what kind of worst experiences than death one could suffer.

This tests usually consist in some sort of sacrifice, although it can vary depending on the benevolence or dementia of their Holder. Once cleared, the challenger is rewarded with the Object and granted with the title of Seeker, a searcher of these artifacts. Arriving at this point there is no turning back, the future of this new bearer is intertwined with his Object. His actions will determine if he'll rise above them all and become legend or trip over and fall to the deepest abyss.

Some say that whoever is capable of collect them all will obtain a power on par with a god, others say that gathering them will result in a cataclysm that will trigger the end of the universe, perhaps because of fear or ignorance that this stories have been relegated to mere urban legends.

Even so, every day that goes on the conflicts between different Seekers grow for the control of the Objects...
