The End of the Conflict (VII)

In the next morning we were on the exit of the capital. We have our backpacks loaded with enough resources courtesy of Leah. It seems that she'll take an important role on rebuilding this city, both at a structural and political level. I wish her the best of lucks, I hope that someday we got the chance to come back and see what they'll accomplish.

"You got everything Maria?"

Watching her closely I notice that she's wearing more elegant clothes, a white dress with light blue details that matches her socks of the same colour, a blue short skirt with fancywork and a ribbon on her head that reminds me of little bunny ears.

Certainly is more appropriate to go on a long walk, truly she took this of travelling serious.

Although a part of me misses how cute she looked on her casual outfit when I first met her.

Well, this is one also great. It has a different type of charm.

"I think so. I'm so excited!"

"Why?"

"Why you say? We're going on a journey, it's been so long since I went out! Living an adventure, that always fill me with joy!"

"Didn't you felt like that when you came here with John?"

"Of course not! I was too worried of what could have happen to you, I didn't have time to enjoy"

"I see, thanks again"

"Hehe~ that's obvious. We're partners from now on!"

"Partners, eh? That doesn't sounds so bad"

All this weeks I've been travelling and fighting on my own, it's heartwarming to have someone else by my side.

In that instant I remembered a little detail. I raised my right hand and watched carefully. I could feel the light inside, to clear my doubts I decided to call it. My katana appeared on front of me like it should.

"What's wrong Asriel?"

"Oh, nothing. Just wanted to make sure of something" answered storing it.

Wasn't the hooded man also a Seeker? Why didn't he took my sword when he could? Wasn't that the reason for trying to kill me?

Doesn't matter. Next time I'll be prepared, I promise.

We'll go to my city, where I still have my house where we could stay and live for a while and then plan on what we'll do on the future.

I need to take John's advice on consideration, maybe my psyche is affected because being alone for so long. It would be good for me to spend some time next to a cute and adorable girl like Maria.

The only thing I need to be thinking right now is to protect her at all costs. I don't want to see her sad ever again.

I took her hand firmly and we started the long road ahead.
