It has been 6 years since we last spoke and in all this time l had told myself that I was finally moving on with my life. I have to admit, it has not been easy, there have been some extremely dark days but l truly believed in my heart that chapter of my life was over and done with. Little did l know that fate was somehow concocting a jumbled timeline that would bring our paths on a collusion course yet again. l think its best we start from the beginning of this rather convoluted tale.
"Craig, are you headed home right away?" asked the lanky lady from behind the window.
"Maybe, why do you ask?"
"There is a friend of mine whom I'd appreciate immensely if you could drop her on your way."
"You are asking too much of me Rachel", l protested, staring daggers at her though the glass partition.
"Pretty please", she pestered with those big puppy eyes and l just caved.
"Where does she stay?"
"Along Mukwa street, right by the junction."
"Mukwa street?" l barked, almost jumping out of my shoes, "but that is on the other side of town, l can't honestly l just can't."
"I had already told her you said yes", she said, the sly smirk on her face made me want to reach over and strangle her.
"You owe me..." l whispered as l turned and headed for the door, "tell her l will be waiting by the car."
"Thanks Craig."
"Whatever", l gestured with my hands up and walked out the security doors.
As l slouched in the driver's seat, my mind thinking of a million and one things, the door was gently opened and the most enthralling being settled in the seat beside me. I was star struck, l was mesmerized, the sheer splendour of this person made me swallow my tongue.
"Hie, I'm Zenzelo", her hand extended and as our fingers touched, l felt a jolt of excitement course through my entire system. With my mouth all dry, yet my brow pouring bucket loads of sweat l failed to find the words to respond. And that was the beginning of our story.
