You don’t need to do this!

Beth's fire covered most of Alan's body as he was motionless and soundless. The fire began to envelope his skull, cracking his bones in the process and charring it black.

"Goodbye Alan." Beth gave her farewell to Alan, as she could tell his time was running out against her flames.

'I...can't...perish…'

The fire enveloped his scalp and mouth as it traveled to his eyes.

The hand that gripped onto Beth's wrist began to let go.

*Crack*

----------------------------------------

"Sir!" A blue pony-tailed woman ran up and called at a man who was sitting beside a black, oozing river. If one looked closely, they would see faces of different kinds, screaming and weeping inside the river stream.

"Hm?" The man turned his head to look at his worried looking assistant.

"Alan, he is in danger. Beth is burning his soul. I just received an SOS from his system." Aqua explained the situation to the man as quickly as possible.

The man stood up and extended his palm towards the black river and formed a whirlpool, showing an image of Alan burning against Beth's fire.

"What happened?" The man asked with no change of expression nor tone.

"From what I gathered and his system logs, he wanted to head to his management hub to ask for permission. From the request logs, something happened that involved a living being, and it looked like he wanted to ask permission to interfere with them."

"However, as I warned, Beth did not like the sight of him and there seemed to have been a misunderstanding of Alan's capabilities from Beth and so she was furious and ignited him in flames."

"From the logs, Alan activated soul transfer to retaliate which made Beth more furious and the system made many suggestions and requests to Alan to deactivate his skill but he ignored them all, probably because he thought he would perish immediately if he didn't fight back."

"The system went into its emergency state and forcefully deactivated the skill but it was too late to calm Beth."

Aqua quickly explained the entire situation and events leading up to Alan's current predicament, with some of her own insight about the situation.

The man just listened to her as he watched Alan burn in silence ' How have you already caused so much trouble?' Alan's talent truly surprised death by causing havoc and problems wherever he ends up.

"Sir, Should I inform Beth to stop?" Seeing that her boss was silent, Aqua tried to make a suggestion.

The man turned and walked towards her with his hands in his pockets. "No need, I'll do it myself."

Aqua's eyes widened hearing her boss's words "Sir, you don't need to personally go there to stop it! I could do it or if you really wanted to, you could just send a message to Beth! You don't need to go there yourself."

"It's fine." The man replied simply as a dark shadow portal opened in front of him.

Aqua just couldn't understand the efforts Death will make for Alan. In her years of working for Death, he had never interacted with a low ranking Reaper as much as Alan. Even the managers and other high grade Reapers wouldn't have Death personally go over to them to help them. At most, he would have sent a transmission to stop any problems and they would only ever meet Death if there was a meeting, they worked as an assistant to him like herself or if they placed in a request but only high ranking Reapers were permitted. Even then, their requests could be rejected by Death.

From her experience, Death was the type to keep to himself and would travel alone most of the time. He doesn't socialise often to even the other gods and with his Grim Reaper around; he stopped collecting souls personally. Him going down to the mortal world and breaking a taboo was completely unnatural to his character, and after that shock, he personally hired Alan to become a Grim Reaper. Though only Beth and herself knew currently, if news got out, it would cause an uproar and place a bigger focus on Alan.

'He even set Alan's system to have priority over everything else during an emergency…' Aqua just could not understand her boss's mindset as she followed him into the dark shadow portal.

---------------------------------------

Something unexpected was happening at Alan's end.

Beth's fire could not completely burn Alan's skull as his empty eye sockets remained untouched.

His hand that was grabbing Beth's wrist, which was loosening, gripped her strongly again!

"What?" Beth couldn't help but say as she noticed his grip tightening on her wrist, much more than before.

'Soul...Transfer…'

[Soul Transfer Denied]

[Soul Transfer Denied]

[Soul Transfer Denied]

The system continued ringing this prompt inside Alan's mind as Alan continued to think of his skill, ignoring the constant rings from the system.

However, despite the system's denial prompts, Alan's hand glowed red!

Beth was shocked seeing Alan using his skill again "How are you-" Suddenly, a small jolt of pain coursed through the wrist Alan gripped 'It harmed me!?'

Alan's eyes glowed a red as his grip tightened and the glow became a darker shade of red.

"Okay, Enough."

*Snap*

With a snap of his fingers, a dark Shockwave striked at the two, extinguishing Beth's flame and Alan's skill. From just a snap, both their abilities were disabled, leaving only a near completely charred Alan and a wide-eyed Beth from seeing her boss.

"U-um Death.." Beth was at a complete loss for words from his sudden appearance and wanted to show her respect with a bow in front of him, but as she wanted to head to him, she couldn't.

She looked back and saw Alan still gripping her wrist tightly 'Tch! Let go! You're making me look bad in front of Death!' Beth wanted to burn Alan's hand but Death just stopped her powers so if she activated them again, that would blatantly be disrespectful to him.

Beth could just use her strength and break his arm but she was worried that Death would be very displeased about it, so all she could do was struggle to lessen his grip.

Noticing that Alan was motionless, only holding onto Beth, he walked towards them.

Seeing Death walk towards them, Beth panicked "I am so sorry Sir, he won't let go of my wrist." She said, hoping Death wouldn't be too angry at her inhospitable behaviour.

Death ignored her and stopped beside the charred black Alan.

"Alan, it's okay, You're not endangered anymore." Death slowly spoke to the unmoving Alan, but it was as if Alan couldn't hear a single word from Death.

Death sighed and knelt beside him, which surprised Aqua and Beth with both saying, "Sir! You don't need to do this!"

Death ignored them and continued, " Alan, let go. You are safe, I am sorry."

'He apologised....'

'Death apologised…'

Beth and Aqua thought they were dreaming watching the handsome and all powerful God of Death kneeling beside a skeleton and apologising!

'I...am...sorry…'

"Hm?" Beth checked her wrist again in shock.

Alan released his grip.
