First Mission

Hypatia didn't know how many days she laid in the bed. She kept falling into a long sleep and when she awoke she found it still hard to move her body.

There's not many people touching her at this time. She slowly could recognise the people who take care of her body the most.

The pretty woman with black hair and green eyes was the one her eyes caught the most.

Second is one middle aged woman and one young girl. Both of them have blonde hair and brown eyes. They didn't wear flashy dresses and jewellery like the pretty woman. Most of the time Hypatia's eyes catch them when both of them clean her body.

Yes.. It was so shameful to have someone else wipe all over her body, including cleaning her mess. What else could she do? The main reason she desperately tried to move her body every time she awakened was to go to the toilet by herself!

She used to be a very healthy 33 years old woman who never even admitted to hospital for her whole life. It's so shameful when those two strip her naked, raise her butt and wipe her clean like babies.

Better forget about these horrible memories and move to the next person who appears the most.

Third, it was a man in his forties along with two young men and one little boy. All their faces have similarities in one glance, clearly father and sons. The two older boys look like adolescents, with blonde hair and blue eyes just like their father. They couldn't be considered handsome if we compare them with Hollywood actors, but they have their own charm. All of them also wear the unilateral ear piece without jewels.

If the older boys look okay, the younger one truly looks like an angel. Really! Hypatia felt this little boy clearly could make his debut as a model or child actor. He has blonde hair and the same mysterious green eyes like the pretty woman. His face is as pretty as the woman.

Looking at both of them eases Hypatia's tired eyes. A beautiful feast. Even when she was on earth, she loved to enjoy beautiful things around her. So when both of them visit her, it becomes Hypatia's only entertainment.

Last person who often appears in front of Hypatia is an old man wearing white robe. Actually, most of them seem to love wearing white robes as their basic clothes, giving Hypatia the illusion she was transported to the ancient greek or romans. But this man consistently wears only white robe. This man is the one who love to torture her the most.

Open her eyes, her throat, lift her hand, pinch her toes and fingers. Sometimes he comes with the middle-aged woman who cleans her body, and gives instructions to smear many herbs on her body.

Even though Hypatia didn't understand the language, at least she could guess.

Luckily, Hypatia didn't smell anything stinky from this many mixture applied to her body. In fact, most of the time she could smell milk, honey, and flowers from some of the ointment.

Hypatia has difficulties opening her mouth. It makes these people diligently pour many kinds of liquid into her mouth with a wooden spoon, forcing her to drink. 90% of the liquid fed to her looks like milk with a sweet scent.

For the bitter liquid, they use a silver spoon. For the clear liquid, they use the golden spoon.

Hypatia really wants to know what kind of these liquids are made of. It replenishes her energy every time she drinks those three kinds. This will be a good liquid diet for bedridden people in her original world.

The taste is quite good, except the bitter one. But it is still acceptable. Even though after many days drinking the same thing over and over again makes her want to puke when she smells the sweet milky liquid.

After so many attempts, finally Hypatia could stay awake longer and move her hands although she can't raise it yet. She also could open and close her mouth by her own will. The diet changed into soft smooth porridge, baby food type.

Hypatia waits patiently for the system to arrive, telling her what to do. She wants to do her mission well and successfully go back to her own world. She missed her mother, her family, her cats, her friends..

Hypatia refused to believe she would stay here forever. She thought this is maybe only a long dream, wishing everyday to wake up in her own bed, then laugh at this ridiculous dream.

But with many days passed, she slowly realised, this is not a dream. Yes, now she can count the days and nights. Since she can move her body, she could turn her head and look beyond this large bed. At her right, she could see big stone windows with a light pink curtain. Sometimes people change the curtain into light green, sometimes light yellow. She hasn't seen them change it into light blue yet.

The curtain's color applied to the thin veiled curtain around her bed. When the curtain changes, it takes approximately seven days. It means, she spent three weeks since she could move her neck and head.

Many weeks spent bedridden in a strange world, with strange people around her, strange language, it was enough to make her shed her tears many times. Questioning why she has to go through all of this.

Never in her life she felt this hopeless. Helpless.

She somehow thought about the famous Chinese philosopher who wrote about butterfly dreams. She didn't remember his name, but his quote is really famous.

The man said he once dreamed he was a butterfly. He was happy, enjoying itself to the full of its bent, not knowing he was a man. Then he suddenly awoke, and came to himself. The man now does not know whether he really dreamt he was a butterfly, or he was a butterfly dreaming he was a man.

What if that long 33 years of her life is just a dream? None of it real? The real her now is the paralyzed person in the bed.

She doesn't have enough energy to see her own body. Whether she was a man or woman, she doesn't know.

One thing she knows, her hands look so small. She might be a child around 7 to 10 years old.. Definitely not an adult.

Even though Hypatia was depressed, she didn't give up moving her body everyday, diligently drink all the bitter liquid, and finish all her food. She wants to get better. She wants to get up.

At least she wants to go to the toilet by herself!

Everytime she cried silently, she chose the time when there were not many people around. It seems impossible for her to be alone. There's always someone near her.

And most of the time when she cries, the pretty woman will rush and come to her, hug her tight, often crying together with her.

The woman reminds her of her own mother. The gentle touch, the loving eyes, the pretty smile.

Her mother used to be a pretty woman, strong and tough, teaching her anything she knows today. Her paternal grandmother is also a strong woman. Both of them teach her that she doesn't need anyone to reach her own happiness. Their love is tough, and it helps Hypatia to face the cruel world around her.

Both of them teach her to absorb happiness from every good thing around her. Stay strong no matter what happens to her, no matter where she is.

That's why, even though she was still single at her age, she didn't feel she lacked anything. No man who wants to love her as much as she loves them? Doesn't matter. There's so many beautiful clothes, shoes and bags that can replace them. Companionship? She has her friends, comics, games, novels, and her beloved cats.

This pretty woman who willingly shed beautiful sparkling tears from the corner of her green eyes, giving her the same warmth she got from her mother.

The older blonde haired man often comes to talk with her and hold her hands. He often kissed Hypatia's forehead and rubbed her head lovingly. It gave the same feeling as the protected feeling from her father.

Yes, her father is a scumbag who cheats on her mother many times. He was a bad husband, but he still counts as a good father. At least Hypatia felt that way. He gave her the best education, and fulfilled her every need. Until the last time he slipped his foot and brought the disaster to their family.

When finally the curtain on her big windows changed into light purple (still she hasn't seen the light blue curtain yet), Hypatia finally could move her head around, roll over with difficulties, and also raise her hand a little bit.

The young men who often come to her room didn't say much, they usually just hold her hand, rub her head like the older blonde haired man, and stiffly ask questions to the women who take care of her, often scolding the old man with white robe. If the pretty woman is there when they scold the old man, the pretty woman will scold them back.

The young handsome little boy often climbed the bed and laid his body next to her, hugging her tight with his tiny little hands. He reminded Hypatia of her own younger brother.

Okay, her younger brother is definitely not this cute and will never hug her this way. But still..

Maybe Hypatia just missed her family so much, so she automatically assumes all these people as her own family.

One day, in the middle of the night, when the window closed and candles lit up around the corner of her room, Hypatia secretly opened her mouth and tried to produce voices.

"Ahh.. Uhh.. Ehh.."

Mmm.. A little bit hoarse, no wonder. Her vocal cords were not used for months. She then whispered. "Test test.. My name is Hypatia, I am 33 years old. I used to live on earth."

Hmm.. It seems she knows her language. She said the same sentence once again in English language. She counts numbers, lists of disease and treatment.

It's good. Her memory and knowledge is intact. But.. Is it useful here? If she starts speaking this language in front of these people, will they assume she was possessed by evil spirits? It's good if they only read some weird incantation, but what if they start to do cruel things to her because they were afraid of evil spirits?

Looking at her surroundings, the white walled room, the stone window, the robes, and the utensils they used, this clearly is not a modern world setting.

What if they stick hot iron to her body, or burn her feet, or worse, force her to eat worms in order to get rid of the evil spirits in her body??? Hypatia once read many cruel things ancient people do to get rid of evil spirits from someone's body. Just read about witch hunts in Europe! Burn innocent people alive.

Ugh!

Hypatia is afraid of pain. Every animal is afraid of pain. Humans count as animals too!

Well, with this many months passed without any system or clues, Hypatia thought about many story lines with the Isekai genre. It seems in every story, people like her need to do something big, such as save the world.

Maybe she will have a hidden ability! Magic or extraordinary abilities. Or maybe she could use her modern knowledge to save the world. Only when she accomplished her task, she could go back to her own world.

Whatever, the first thing a protagonist needs to do first is go to the toilet by herself first! Later, she could pretend she didn't remember anything and learn the language from scratch.

Yes.. After that, she could learn the situation and learn which book she transmigrated into, or what task she needed to accomplish.

It's useless to cry. Humans are the strongest creatures because they didn't give up. Humans always challenge their limitations and strive for better results. Yes! That's what she needs to do now.

The most important thing is to stay low first, and learn how to survive!
