Chapter 36: Getting to know you

They began the meal in silence, there was nothing either felt safe or confident in raising. That is, until Noel, who had kept the wine list for something to look at, noticed that one of Walter Hendrikson's wines was featured. That led to her telling him about the prospect, and then to a discussion about advertising, and David questioning and listening. She told him of some of the jobs she had done and of some of the lighter moments.

'Do you remember that swimsuit ad last summer, the one shot around a luxurious indoor pool? The comedy of errors about shooting a commercial? The one where this idiot gets caught up in all the wiring on a crosswalk above the pool and does a bomber, soaking everyone? No? Pity. It was a real hit.'

'It was one of yours?'

'It was. I was the idiot.' She laughed. 'It wasn't in the script but it was too good to cut. And I'll never be allowed to forget it - there's always someone around to remind me.'

'You don't mind?'
