Chapter 86: Unpacking the boxes

Elisabeth woke to find Honey sitting by her side. 'Hello.'

Honey smiled. 'Hello yourself. How are you feeling?'

'Like a truck hit me.' Her face shadowed. 'Russell?'

'Robert said he'd be kept at the remand centre until sentenced.'

'Robert?'

'We talked, Friday night. He was here.' She watched for a reaction. Elisabeth closed her eyes. When she opened them again she said, 'Ray and Julia must be devastated.'

Not to mention you, was Honey's unspoken response.

'I should talk to them.' She turned her head away. 'What are we going to do?'

Honey sprang up to sit on the bed and take Elisabeth by the shoulders. 'We're all going to get on with life. Russell too. He won't be in prison for ever. You're not going to be of any use to him if you fall to pieces.'

'Use.' It was scathing. She was shaken for it.

'You did your best.'
