He was too close to resist. Went that one step further and put his face against hers. Feeling her breath on his mouth. Breathing deep, holding himself in check. 'Elisabeth.' Eyelids fluttered. Muscles moved under the skin. 'Elisabeth.'


Her arm moved and she made a little noise. Hand arched to knuckle eyes. She yawned. He was spellbound. She opened her eyes. Frowned. Smiled. Sending frissons of delight spraying through him. She flopped onto her back but continued to look at him. Uncertain. She wasn't going to thank him for letting it drag out. 'Are you awake?'


She yawned again and stretched, and he saw her wince and stop mid-stretch. That was when he knew she was fully in the present. 'Are you awake enough for some good news?'


She had been about to roll away, they had not parted on friendly terms. He stood and handed her the two statements. Holding out her hand she queried him with a look. Standing back he said, 'Read them.'
