Contract

A month after reading the book on elemental magic written by his mother, Saibus practiced wind magic to improve his fire magic and water magic to put out the fire if his magic got too strong. He doesn't want to burn an entire forest. Saibus is a new mage in wind magic and an apprentice in water magic. He wants to be a mage in his two magics before he starts earth and lightning magic.

Saibus could be seen in the garden being beaten up by Trinity, but she said Saibus is undergoing training. Saibus is lying on the ground with cuts all over his body. His two swords are a few yards from him. Trinity, she's in front of Saibus, and from her facial expression, she's thinking about some important things.

Saibus takes a deep breath and looks at Trinity. He was surprised to see Trinity with a thoughtful expression and wonders what she could think of to be like that. This must be very important because she has never been so thoughtful since becoming his mentor a month ago. Also, based on her own understanding of her character, Trinity is more of the blood type. She is cheerful, says whatever comes to mind, and doesn't really like dealing with awkward and complicated things. This is why most of his work as a Board member is given to other members. However, it also shows how childish and lazy she can be.

"What do you think about having this head so focused?" Eventually asking for Saibus.

"Huh, ha, nothing. I'm just thinking about what I'm going to do for dinner tonight. I hesitate between chicken or boar. What do you prefer?" Trinity replied seriously. Saibus was taken aback by Trinity's response and let out a sigh. 'As I expected, my mentor is the very definition of a child in an adult body.

"I prefer the chicken," I answered his question. Trinity nodded and returned to her usual face, which is a happy face. She walks towards Saibus she squats down next to him. Trinity puts her hand over Saibus's body. His hand lights up before the light from his hand passes into Saibus's body.

"Groin blath." Trinity sings. When the light hits his body, the cuts Saibus had closed. The light fades, and there were no more cuts on Saibus. He gets up at the same time as Trinity.

"Thanks for the spell. I really need to learn healing magic, even if I don't become a master of it, at least whatever spells like this." Saibus said.

"It's nothing. You will eventually learn healing magic. It is just one branch of light magic." Trinity retorts, going home.

"Prepare well. We have a contract for this afternoon." Says Trinity.

"A contract? So we're going to hunt a monster?" Ask Saibus.

"Yes, there are not enough witchers in this world. That's why from time to time they send us missions that they cannot undertake due to lack of time or human resources." Trinity.

Saibus lets perceive a smile on his face, thinking of his future hunt. This is his first monster hunt and the first he will kill one, members of the Wild Hunt do not count because they are elves.

"What is the contract about?" Saibus asks.

"People have been reported missing near Ursten." Says Trinity.

"How does that constitute a contract? It could be bandits and not one or more monsters." Ask Saibus.

"Correct, but did I say that the inhabitants also found mutilated bodies near the cemetery." Trinity retorts with a small smile.

Saibus raises his eyebrows at the childishness of his mentor. "Mutilated bodies?"

"Yeah, do you know what that means?" Trinity asks.

"Yes, and I don't like it. Ghoul. Although they are quite weak, the problem is that they move in packs and there may be an Alghoul, which will make the hunt difficult. " Saibus said.

Trinity nodded, and the two entered the house.

In the early afternoon, we can see two people entering a small village called Ursten. These two people are, of course, Saibus and Trinity. They walk towards the house of the chief of the hamlet.

Knock Knock

Trinity knocks on the door. A few seconds later, the door opens, revealing a robust man who appears to be in his fifties, which is old for a man of this world.

"Hello, sir, we have come for the contract you issued." Said, Trinity.

Hearing Trinity's words, the man's face was relieved.

"You must be witchers. Watch well. I'll take you to the graveyard to show you the mutilated bodies." Declares the man.

He closes the door to his house and directs us to the cemetery, explaining that people have disappeared recently before reappearing mutilated in the cemetery. In the cemetery, we can see graves and small crypts where flowers and incense are placed in front of the funeral urns for people who have no bodies after their deaths.

"The bodies are a little further away." Saibus and Trinity nod and walk over to the corpses. They approach and examine them. The corpses are three in number, two men and one woman. The woman has a large run in her stomach where you can see that her intestine has been removed and surely eaten by the ghouls. He is also missing his left leg. One of the men was only half his head and his upper body. It is torn off at the navel. As for the last corpses, they can see bite marks as well as the ends of the cellars, which are missing here and there as if the body had been eaten more and left to be abandoned.

"From what we can see, the monsters that did this are indeed ghouls." Saibus nods to his mentor's statement.

"Go back home and let us take care of his monsters. We will bring you proof that the hunt is complete when we return." Said, Trinity. The village chief nodded and left for the village.

Saibus and Trinity look around for any clues to the location of the ghouls. After searching the area, they find fine traces of blood and footsteps that the ghouls left after their feast. Both follow in their footsteps. They go deeper into the small grove. Trinity casts a spell on the two of them to hide their scents and reduce the sound of their footsteps so ghouls won't spot them. As they advance for a few minutes, they spot the ghoul's nest. Ghouls are sleeping after their meals. Saibus and Trinity can see the corpse of a young woman near the nest that must be the last meal of the ghouls.

Saibus POV

Trinity and I hid near the ghoul's nest after following in their footsteps and making sure the ghouls couldn't detect us. We can see that the ghouls are four in number and that there is no alghoul, which makes it easier for us.

"How are we going to kill them?" I ask Trinity.

"From what I can see, the two ghouls on the coasts are adults, and the middle ones are children. So we need to take care of adults first because adult ghouls are more dangerous."

"We can just go ahead and kill them all given our strength, but it is risky. That is why we are going to follow the next plan and this is a lesson you must learn. No matter how strong you are, it does never underestimate your opponent. " Trinity replied with a serious expression to back it up.

I retort, "I know, I won't make that kind of mistake."

"Alright, here's the plan. Thanks also spell that I threw the ghouls won't notice us until we're 30 yards away. You go to their left and I to their right. When they notice us, they go. We will jump on it, which will separate them. You will throw an aard sign to send the children flying. The adults will arrive and we will kill them and then pass to the children. " Trinity explains the plan we are going to follow.

I nod to show my agreement to the plan. We get into position before Trinity gives the signal to execute the plan. I see her give me the signal, we both start running towards ghouls.

The ghouls jump when they feel us approaching. The two adult ghouls finally move, Finally, Finally, as Trinity intended. The adult ghoul closest to me rushes at me. I take advantage of the distance between us to throw a little blue ball in the middle of the children.

"Aard"

The blue ball hits the ground and nears a shock that pushes the two-child ghouls back.

I don't have time to see the result of my attack as the ghoul is in front of me. The ghoul roars and gets angry that I attack her cubs even though we don't know if they are hurt or not. The ghoul leaps at me with its fangs visible and its claws sticking out to plant me. I dodge the ghoul to the side, causing it to fall to the ground. I take this opportunity to kill her with my silver sword. But the ghoul rolls on the ground, and I can only give him a gash on the stomach. The ghoul faces me and jumps on me again. Because of his stomach injury and loss of blood, the ghoul is much less energetic. I bend down to dodge and take advantage of her weakness to slice her when she is on top of me. Blood spurts all over me and on the floor. The ghoul then falls to the ground in two parts. I refocus my attention on the nest and see Trinity with blood on her sword and armor. She kills the two-child ghouls who try as best to attack her with their wounds on their bodies which must come from the shock wave of my aard sign. I can see behind her the body of a headless ghoul and her head which is a few paces from her body.

I walk over to my mentor.

"You did pretty well on your first monster contract, but next time, try to manage the power of your sign better. You sent the cubs flying as planned but one of them flew towards me and I had to dodge it. "

"I'm sorry, next time I'll make sure I don't use the monsters as projectiles."

"You don't need to fuck with me, kid," Trinity told me, rubbing her head.

After this little comic scene in a place that is not, we take ghouls' heads before burning their bodies so as not to spread diseases. We also take the body of the woman so that she can be buried. Then, I drag the stretcher made Trinity with the magic of the earth on which is the body of the girl. Meanwhile, Trinity pulls the heads of the ghouls out as evidence of the hunt.

We arrive at the cemetery and we see the village chief and several men and women who must have come after hearing the sounds of battle.

"Here, here are the ghoul heads as evidence for the hunt, and here is the body of a young girl we found in the ghoul nest," Trinity told the Chief, holding out her heads and pointing to the body on the stretcher.

"Thank you for your work here." The chief says by refusing the heads and denouncing Trinity 50 crowns. (AN: I don't know if it's a lot or not anymore but I think it's enough for a small village and for ghouls.)

Trinity takes the crowns before setting the ghoul's heads on fire. Finally, the young girl's body is taken away by men to show it to her family one last time before being buried.
