Curiosity- Family Secret

No words, he killed the king. He killed the King? But, why wasn't he aware of this? If this were true, the entire vampire army would have been after him. " How?" The words slipped out of his mouth.

Brianna wrinkled her nose, " I don't know you tell me." She retorted leaning back onto the wall.

In all honest he couldn't recall. In this moment his brain was flipping through the pages of times, recalling every war, every slaughter, the people dying at his hands. Yet, he couldn't remember the face, the face of once upon a king. " I can't remember, I don't know why I just can't." He confessed with shame, as he ran a hand over his face.

Brianna fought in silence debating if her words meant anything at all. Maybe, just maybe if her words reached him, they could fight together towards their common end goal, instead of fighting one another, " Well, its not your fault most people don't. My uncle King Rowan only ruled for a short period of time, about five years or so. He was a very active warrior on the battle field along with my father. My father warned him to sit out, because he need to ensure the heir to the kingdom. However, he never listened. On that unfortunate day they said the weather was unforgiving foreshadowing the awful event ahead. Coldness spread throughout. The heavens clouded with a grey ash. Blood staining the muddy grass. Endless plies of body accumulated. The rain and thunder in conjunction with one another dulling the senses. One false move was all it took for the crown to be dismantled. My father and cousin witnessing the murder of their loved one. They could never forget the eyes of his killer. Without remorse, nor concern." She entailed looking out the window.

As if the telling of those words triggered something in his memory. The vivid clear scene of the downpour, the water running against his body, the timeless day, and his venomous teeth sinking into a man who carried the same brown eyes, the scream of a child heard for miles. Never ending. Never escaping. How could he ever forget? " No wonder, you must hate me." Michael said with a sad grimace. His gaze falling from hers, how could he look her in the eye after killing someone so close, so important to her and pretend to be a great and mighty person. He couldn't. Inside, he knew he was a retched monster, a killing machine. Something, a creature that shouldn't exist against all laws of nature.

" Well to be honest. I personally don't." Bri informed truthfully as Michael snapped his head upon her eyes meeting his, holding no more than sincerity. " I never met my uncle that was many years before I was born. I only heard of what happened and that is how my father because king. The death of my uncle let my cousin lost in his own distraught, he went berserk. Lost in rage, madness, and lost he wanted nothing more than to destroy all wolves. To destroy you."

" I'm sorry." He apologized.

" I don't think I'm the one you need to apologize too." She pointed out as he slowly nodded, disappointed his apology didn't even reach her, " But for what it's worth, I accept your acknowledge of your wrongdoings." Brianna gave a faint smile, one the made Michael's heart leap, that made him feel less of a monster.

He wanted to believe that was true. He wanted to have peace. Not just for his people, but himself. So that his restless soul could find some tranquility , " You think I deserve forgiveness?" He questioned seriously with furrowed brows.

" We all sin. We all have our unsolicited damaged that we wish we could erase. But I do think that to seek forgiveness we have to forgive others, and yourself." She empathized.

He slowly nodded understand her philosophy for someone who had also tainted hands, she found peace within herself to keep living. Maybe he could try to do the same? He scratched the back of his head, feeling a bit embarrassed for being emotional. After all he was an alpha. Strong, and never faltered, or whatever bullshit his father had spouted. " So why not help your cousin get revenge? Why did you protect me?" Michael inquired.

" You know I actually don't get enjoyment from seeing people die." Brianna confessed as the she could see something linger in those ocean eyes. " Besides I wouldn't like to see that pretty face of yours, get bruised." She added.

" Did you just say I have a pretty face?"

" Was that the only part, you heard?"

" I heard that you said I had a pretty face and you wouldn't like it to get bruised. So you thinking I'm good looking."He stroked his ego as Brianna rolled her eyes. He was beyond good looking, freaking the creator worked on him overtime to perfection, but she didn't want him to know that.

"Are you a masochist or like repeating the same stupid question?" She retorted crossing her arms.

"I prefer to be a sadist but whatever works if I have to bow down to one person I would have be to you." Michael playfully flirted as he winked. Brianna cheeks growing redder.

She turned her head to the side to avoid his gaze, " You shameless rascal prince." Brianna replied biting her lip.

" Did I say something wrong?" Michael teasingly asked, thrusting his chin out.

Brianna shook her head, " You know what you did. I don't have to answer what you already know." She added.

" Oh really, please do tell?"

" Prince, do not act innocent. You are far from it."

" I have no idea what you are talking about. Besides, why am I the rascal? Don't you have a history of rendezvous?"

" I do not!"

Michael tilted his head side to side, " I don't know I have sources that say otherwise." He added as Brianna turned her chocolate eyes to met his. The pinkness in her cheeks usually not seen in other vampires was predominant, showing her embarrassment. He wanted to place a hand against her cheek to caress her.

Brianna slapped his arm lightly as she broke his attention. A quick magnetic spark occurred as it lingered in both of them, " Hey! That is not true. I would like to know which sources told you that." She expressed as a wide grin spread his lips.

" Um, I'm going to have to get back to you. Lenore knows a person who knows a person." Michael digressed as Brianna chuckled following his own. A moment that wasn't too serious, that was between only them. Looking into each other's eyes, the infinity sea and the expanding earth seeing the ripples of their souls waiting weave together. So close, but not close enough.

" Hey!" Another familiar voice called out breaking the moment between the two as the dust of the golden fairy had return.

" Delphine." Brianna greeted.

" Oh, my Princess." Delphine awed as she gave her a kiss on the cheek and twirled around her.

Michael squinting his eyes wishing he could do that.

Brianna giggled at her fairy friends cheerful demeanor as she had been accustomed to since she was a child. " Delphine, what are you doing here?" She asked.

" Well I was here helping Libro when this guy-"

" Nice to see you again." Michael interrupted as Delphine eyes widened, her wings flapping furiously.

" You!" She called out.

" You." Michael repeated as Brianna watched the unfavorable interaction deciding to step in.

" Um Michael this is Delphine. Delphine this is his Highness Prince Michael." Brianna properly introduced.

" It's nice to see you again. I never knew fairies worked with the royals." Michael spoke first.

Delphine turned her head pouting, " You got me in trouble with Libro!" She accused as Brianna turned to Michael who had his eyes down.

" Oh, Delphine. Michael didn't mean any harm." Brianna began as Delphine twinkled.

" No. No. He got me in trouble." She resisted as Brianna ran her hands through her hair.

" Delphine you know how Libro is." Brianna paused waiting for Delphine to turn her attention. " Besides give Michael a chance. I have." The words slipped out unintentionally as she didn't cover to hide it.

Michael looking at the little creature who tapped her feet looking elsewhere until she unfolded her arms, " If my mistress is giving you a chance then I will too." Delphine said in a friendly way as Brianna gave a thumbs up as success washed up them. " So what are you two doing here alone? It's kinda weird, you know. You're a wolf. She's a vampire. Now that I think about it, how can you guys stand the sight of one another." She toppled all questions they didn't know how to answer as their stumbled upon their words looking for a way out.
