Chapter 7

Carina was exhausted . The endless relatives had finally greeted her and sge could finally relax . Or so she thought . Carina's blood ran cold as she noticed her mother and Thomas . She frowned at the scene . Her emotions started to run wild . A familiar memory was suddenly recalled .

-: Flashback :-

Carina buried her head in her knees . She didn't know what to feel , how to react . "Your father is dead" The words were repeated in her little head over and over . She wanted to cry but no tears would come out . She just felt lost . She felt someone sit beside her . But she had no energy left to even lift her head . The person lifted her up and sat her on their lap . She got startled and squeaked . "Hush now . It's me ." Carina looked up to see Thomas . She let him wrap his arms around her little figure . "I'm sorry about Mrs.Howards", he said , voice barely audible . She didn't reply . "He eas a good man ." "You don't need to tell me that . He is my father . I know him the most", she snapped . "He 'was' your father", he sighed . Carina's bottom lip quivered . "Tommy ?" "Yes ?" He hummed . "What happens to dead people ?" "They...they go to heaven . And they live there happily with fairies and Gods and beautiful palaces", Thomas smiled . Carina didn't seem pleased by the answer . "And why do people die ?" The 11 year old boy stiffened . He had no clue how to answer that .

"People die because they commit sins and they lie", Sophia said quite loudly . Thomas looked down and lowered Carina from his lap . He stood up and bowed . "Did father do all those things ?" Sophia nodded ,"Your father was a horrible man . That's why God took him early ." Carina's expression changed . She felt somewhat angry at her mother . "Am I right , Tommy ?" She looked at Thomas , giving an amused smile . "Y-Yes , my lady", he mumbled . Carina felt disappointed . A few tears escaped her eyes as she stormed out .

"You'll always listen to me Tommy , won't you ?" She cooed . Thomas gripped the hem of his shirt tightly and replied ,"I will . Always ."

That was how it always was . The memory brought a bitter taste . Carina suddenly felt conscious . What was her mother doing with Thomas ? She needed to know . She madeher way to them .
