Chapter 9-1856

I opened my eyes when all of the racket ceased. Susan and Rob were sitting there, still gripping the edge of their seats, breathing heavily. I felt dizzy, and I felt like my heart was going to explode because it was beating so rapidly. "Is everyone ok?" asked Rob, "Yeah," Susan and I said in unison. I attempted to stand up after taking a long gulp of water. It made me feel like I wanted to pass out. I stumbled over to the window to open the blinds, making Rob and Susan chuckle as I struggled not to fall. I peered out the window, and outside there were lots of trees, trees everywhere with a creek running in between patches of green fern. "What do you see?" Susan asked. I turned around with a smile, saying, "1856."

They both immediately got up to see our surroundings, struggling to do so. I went into the small eating area and grabbed us all some sodas and energy bars, packed with high calories and nutrients. We ate up, and then we called Dan to tell him we made it ok. "Excellent!" he said, "make sure to rest up. I am now going to assign you your mission. For the first week or so, get to know the townspeople and the place, of course, from a distance. Become immersed into their culture and know their intentions on life. Once you have done this, there is a person known as Thomas Williams. He is a bright young man, one of the smartest people in town. Unfortunately, in 4 weeks, he will be assassinated by a family rival. We believe that if you somehow prevent this from happening, he will be able to bring much success and prosperity to America and eventually the Allied States. We do not know much about his capabilities, but if he has children like him, and then they have children, and so on, his family line can potentially change this land for the better. As for now, be Mississippians, know the people and the town, and don't forget the dos and don'ts. Good luck!" The screen cut off. "Wow," I said, "so we get to stop an assassin." That thought gave me the chills through my body. I thought to myself, "I hope we don't get assassinated in the process." My "parents" and I rested for about 30 minutes, trying to get our blood pressure back down. After that, it was time to go explore. Now we had to change into Mississippian 1856 clothing, which was already set out for us by Dan. I took my set and went into my room to change. I looked into the mirror and looked at the strange clothing. "Not bad," I said to myself. I made sure my iHolo was hidden, and I walked out to meet Rob and Susan. They looked like the real deal, too. "Alrighty, folks," Susan said with a rich southern accent, "let us be on our way." We walked out of the small door of our "house," and beyond the area of woods our house was in was a large pasture. I pulled up my iHolo, and it located the road to the town to be on the other side of that pasture. "Here we go," Rob said, "let's not screw this up."
