Aether froze in place, his fingers hanging a hair's width above the surface of the lake. Mara's desperate scream echoed almost unnaturally as ripples spread on the water's surface.
He pulled his hand back as fast as he could and rolled away from the water as something passed by his face. The weaves of magic all around him twisted and distorted as wildmagic burst forth in way of plants suddenly becoming corrupted.
A purple and crimson colour spread among the blades of grass, and they began bulging and twisting, suddenly growing slimier and thicker.
"Get Lady Luna!" Aether shouted at Mara before pressing his palms on the ground. "Halt!" He commanded, and magic burst forth from his hands. For a split second, it seemed as if the crimson and purple shade was being washed away from his immediate surroundings. He gritted his teeth as the plants reared all around him. They rushed forward, lunging to his arms and legs.
