The low footsteps following behind them did nothing but cause alarm. Aether was constantly checking their surroundings with his magic while the only thing stopping Freya from looking over her shoulder every five seconds was Fen's reminders.
"Who do you think it is?" Fen asked with a low voice. Aether shrugged, it was impossible to know at this time. The possibilities were endless. Fen's shoulder dropped, he had clearly hoped that Aether would have at least an inkling.
"Whoever it is, they won't matter soon." Aether muttered. "We're almost at the exit. There is a short tunnel after this cavern, and then we arrive at the great cavern where most people live. Very few people would dare follow us around once we reach that place."
His reassuring words seemed to help the two siblings at least somewhat. They didn't seem so on edge anymore, especially after he pointed at the tunnel entrance just a few dozen steps ahead of them. They were almost there.
