His body felt lighter as soon as he pushed himself off the high city walls. Black mist enveloped him and formed a pair of wings on his back as he soared towards the rifts in the distance.
Without the blade to unlock his full power, he couldn't keep this semi-intangible form for longer than a couple of minutes, so as soon as his feet touched the ground some distance away from the wildmagic surge, the mist around him vanished, retreating back into his body.
Looking at the surge from here, he could see just how much wildmagic leaked into the world. If this was allowed to continue, it would only cause more rifts to appear. It would become and endless loop of wildmagic causing more anomalies.
He clenched his left fist while approaching the anomaly. A few oversized crabs and a scorpion had spawned from the wildmagic rifts. They mindlessly wandered around the rifts, though Aether knew fully well that one he was close enough, they would attack him.
