The Prophecy of 10

"What is that light?" asked Daniel. He wondered why Mrs Katrina and Igor were so silent. He went towards the door but a hand pulled him back. Daniel turned around to find the old man, Kirsk standing their with a grim expression on his face. "Take him downstairs" Daniel heard someone say. He thought it was Mrs Katina.

Kirsk started to pull Daniel towards the stairs. He knew it was important, whatever was in the room. Suddenly, he had an overwhelming urge so see what was behind the door. He suddenly pulled his hand back with great power. A dark shadow fell upon them. Daniel didn't notice it but Kirsk did. He frowned and let go of him.

Daniel ran towards the door. He opened it and found 5 or 6 people staring at a stone. It was cracked and almost an oval shape. It shone with bright colours, a mix of orange, red, blue, orange, yellow, purple and green. Daniel closed his eyes and walked towards it. He looked at Mrs Katrina, who didn't look too happy to see him. "You shouldn't be here, Daniel" she said with a stern voice. "What is that thing?" asked Daniel. "That child, is the Gorstone. Every once a year, it recites a prophecy that will be fulfilled in the months, years, millenia to come." Daniel winced at the Gorstone. He wondered what this years prophecy is.

Just then Kirsk came in and stood next to Mrs Katrina. Daniel didn't see him come in. "You better come downstairs with me" said Kirsk. This made Daniel jump. "Ok" Daniel replied. He took one last look at the Gorstone. The light was starting to die down. He looked at all the people in the room. They seemed to be governors or teachers of the school. He walked to the door where Kirsk was standing outside.

Daniel heard a whisper in his ear. He turned around and he saw no one. The whispering grew louder "You are the chosen one, the 1st of the 10. You shall lead them to victory in the darkest hour..." Then the Gorstone shone a jet black colour. Words came from the stone. It seemed impossible to Daniel, but he heard it. "The Lord of Destruction is rising once more, 10 must train, the 10 must succeed, the hands of power are in their hands..."

Silence.

Mrs Katrina let out a gasp. 'The Lord of Destruction' Daniel heard her whisper. "Impossible" she said. "He had been defeated a decade ago" she said. Mrs Katrina heard the full prophecy. She waited months hoping to hear the full prophecy. After the Gorstone said the prophecy must wait, Mrs Katrina had no choice but ro obey. Kirsk put a hand on Daniel's shoulder "Let's go see your classmates" he said.

As they walked down towards his new class, Daniel couldn't help but wonder what he witnessed in the storage room. Daniel wanted to run and explore but he knew he had to visit his classmates first. They walked along a corridor and reached the door at the end. Daniel heard chanting and fighting coming from various rooms. The door at the end seemed quiet.

"This is your classroom" Kirsk said. "This is a new class that started yesterday" Kirsk was quick and brisk about this part. "And Daniel, drink this, it will help with what you witnessed in the room, I know how hard it must be to witness something like that at the beginning of your school term." Kirsk handed him a bottle of what seemed to be water. "Thanks" Daniel replied and gulped it down...

But what Daniel didn't know was that the bottle Kirsk gave him was water but it memory erasing potion was also in the bottle. The water completely erased his experience with the Gorstone, and the whole prophecy. Kirsk was about to leave when...

"How many students are there?" Daniel asked. Kirsk let a huge sigh of relief. He thought the boy figured out something was wrong. "8" Kirsk replied and with that, he disappeared in a blink of an eye. Daniel took a deep breathe and opened the door...
