Chapter 59
In the evening, despite the breathtaking sunset, the mood in the Li mansion was tensed.
Everyone except the grandchildren was seated at the white couches in the extravagant living room slowly drinking their evening tea.
Chen Yu was the only member of the younger generation present as always.
She had worn a simple knee length white dress giving off an image of a pure noble young miss from an aristocrat background. She held her cup of tea and elegantly sipped without any pretence. Her actions were smooth and clean.
Her eyes shifted to the rarely upset Bai Chun. She furrowed her brows wondering what might have been the case.
Her cup suddenly froze midair and her eyes widened when a sudden thought struck her mind.
' That b*tch!! '
Her lowered eyes turned sharp and cold.
" Xiao Chun, what is the problem? "
The old mistress Li asked glancing at her upset daughter-in-law.
She was seated on the couch, a warm grey blanket wrapped around her feet. Her wheelchair sat at the corner of the living room.
Bai Chun slowly placed her cup on the glass table.
" Mother, what happened with the nurse that I hired for you? "
Old madam Li frowned visibly displeased.
" That promiscuous woman who doesn't even look like a nurse. Fortunately her true colors were revealed before she entered the house, hmph. "
" Mother y-you... "
Bai Chun tightly pressed her lips together. Her face was flushed and had a frustrated look.
The rest shifted their gazes between the two confusion written on their faces. They hadn't met the nurse thus didn't know anything about her. They were nevertheless confused with the way Bai Chun was so insistent on her.
It's just a nurse anyway...
"Sister-in-law, if her morals are questionable then isn't it better for her not to step foot into the mansion?" Zhang Lei her sister-in-law nonchalantly asked sipping her tea.
Bai Chun clenched her hands squinting her sharp eyes at Chen Yu who quietly had her face lowered all that time.
She had always viewed her as a decent young woman but she didn't expect her to be that calculative behind people's backs.
" Chen Yu, why would you chase her without even allowing her in, are you that scheming when everyone's not around? " Bai Chun was so angry that her face turned red.
Everyone looked at Chen Yu in surprise.
Chen Yu on the other hand was shocked.
Her face got frozen as her heart suddenly skipped a beat not expecting that her mother-in-law would expose her in the most brutal way.
Her pure goddess image that she had painstakingly built was at stake.
She had made sure that the maids won't mention a word about that roguish woman.
She didn't expect her to be such a blabbermouth b*tch!
Well, it was still expected for those poor commoners. Sticking themselves to rich people to take advantage of them.
" You're not only a schemer but also a terrible liar! Why didn't you mention yesterday at dinner time that Ellen was here? What are you up to? " Bai Chun's body was slightly trembling in anger.
Everyone shot her surprised gazes. She was the ever easygoing woman, not one to easily raise her voice at anybody.
The Li men quietly watched the drama unfolding.
It was better to let the women handle their matters themselves.
What the outside world didn't know was how the seemingly cold and dangerous Li men were very submissive to their wives. They were best examples of the term wife slaves.
Old madam Li slightly raised her brows at Chen Yu in surprise.
However, Chen Yu was always a decent and obedient girl to her. She always treated her nicely. She felt that she must have had a reason for whatever she did.
She sighed and gently glanced at her daughter-in-law.
" Xiao Chun, I do agree that Yu'er is at fault but maybe she had a reason.
A decent doctor friend of hers from the same hospital told her how the nurse did indecent things to become my nurse. Not only that, even her appearance doesn't fit that one of a professional and ethical nurse. Why dwell on that controversial woman, we can always hire new ones. "
The old woman defended her granddaughter in-law with a warm expression but it turned cold once she began mentioning about Ellen.
She wondered if her daughter-in-law had been bewitched by that promiscuous woman.
Bai Chun dryly chuckled looking at the pretentious timid young woman whose head was lowered so low that it could touch the floor.
" Huh, of course she had reasons. Her selfish reasons... "
Chen Yu's face went pale and tears started flowing from her eyes. Those eyes were so red as her lips trembled. One couldn't help but feel pity for her having an urge to protect the little pitiful thing.
" Mother... "
" I don't think I've ever allowed you to call me that! " Bai Chun snapped not moved by her fake tears in the least.
Chen Yu secretly clenched her fists enraged as streams of tears continued to flow from her eyes.
" I... I'm sorry, I was at fault. Grandma was resting and I didn't want to disturb her sleep because of her health.
Furthermore the nurse, I thought it was a bad idea bringing her into the house since... "
" You thought as who? "
A deep and frozen masculine voice was suddenly heard making it's way through the main door.
