"So was the kid alive?"

I ask Robber #2 seeing him come back from giving the kid food.

"Yeah, had to throw some water at it to get a reaction."

Robber #2 responded back with a grin while carrying the empty bucket back.

We all laugh and I can't help shake my head in hopelessness. This guy is lucky that the kid is a noble and its value won't easily decrease even with a few injuries here and there on the body!

"I got good news to share. This trip should be over soon since we already have a highly interested buyer."

Robber #1 shared the news with the group and not keeping them in suspense gave them more info.

"The client has a like for kids around her age, adding it that she a noble thrilled him more and did not fight over lowering the price. Don't worry I checked and he is a frequent buyer in this part and has a trustworthy reputation in the market. "

"That's good. Easy money deals like this are rare to encounter again. hahaha looks like our luck is finally picking up!"

Robber #4 said laughing while finishing his beer.

I agree with him. The kid is obviously a noble child by how she was dressed. It was not hard smuggling her out of Golden City for someone in the magic port owing us a debt, in fact you can say it was super easy or a struck of luck. Golden City went in lockdown around 4hrs after we smuggled her out and to this day it's still in lockdown. We have not said it out loud but most likely it's for this kid, and I don't want to put too much thought but can't help scarring myself when I think what family this kid has that can shut down one of the biggest cities trade for days. I can only calm myself down knowing that this is about to be over soon and I can enjoy the rest of my life in comfort.

"Damn this kid is making a ruckus. Idiot, you go and check on her and tell her to quiet down!"

I tell Robber #4 while pointing at the hallway where the kid is located at.

"Why me?" Robber #4 was upset being ordered around like that again

"Well you jinxed us with bringing up our luck"

I responded while pushing him to the hallway where the kid is located.

He starts heading over to the kid after being pointed out also by the rest. This guy is seriously lazy, i turn to Robber #1 to voice out my concern about the plan.

"You sure they not gonna find trails about us?"

Hey, I need to be alive and out of jail to be able to enjoy the money so its not wrong for me to be worried and cautious.

" Don't worry, if it's really this kid they are looking for then it's too late. They found out too late and were already out of Golden City. From here with the money we receive, we can go to another planet without worries and buy a new identity."

Robber #1 finally talked about the elephant in the room and tried to calm the group, so close to success and wanted nobody to do something foolish.

"Anyways the kid won't live long if the rumors I heard about our client are true. "

Robber #1 assured us for the 4th time during this trip and started gossiping about the client perverted nature.

" Relax, here a drink. We need to celebrate"

Robber #2 told me while throwing me a flask of moonshine and signaling me to chug on it with his hands.

Definitely wanting to distract Robber #1 from continuing his explicit description of our client hobby.

It must be the stress of traveling to this city that's getting to me. I stand up and start shugging the liquor.

I look at the source of the noise and start choking on the liquor from what I see. Robber #1 had a knife stuck to his throat that he was trying to put pressure on but was bleeding too much. Robber #2 was trying to grab the kid but kept slipping away from him.

"cough cough cough"

I felt like I could not breathe, my throat was burning from the liquor.

I noticed the kid was wearing Robber #4 jacket! Was he a part of this?! No, wait, where is he then?

I grab the moonshine flask and throw it at her. She grabbed Robber #2 clothes and with a pull used him as a shield, hitting his head. Not missing a beat she stabbed him through the eye with a shard, killing him. I was speechless at what I saw and I felt the anger rising in me.

" Bitch! I am going to kill you!" I sprint toward the kid throwing a punch, aiming to smash her head. She moved sideways and then wrapped her body around me -

Next thing I knew I was on the floor with my back facing the floor when the pain hit me. The pain from my stomach brought me back from my daze, she embedded something in my stomach.

I felt something sharp was being pointed in my throat and from the pain, I could tell it already made a shallow cut.

"Hey I have some questions I hope you can answer for me"

The kid said while being on top of me, for the first time I paid attentione to her. A young girl around 7yrs old with brown wavy hair, brown eyes, and a sweet smile. Yet I felt even more terrified with how at ease she was handling herself.

She had pushed further and twisted the weapon that was embedded in my stomach.

"Don't get distracted unless you want to die, mister"
