"Ah princess Rain, hello". I stood up straight and looked at the stranger who was staring at me, which made me a bit uncomfortable. I used to being stared at of course being a princess but something about him gave off a malicious intention. My father then spoke, probably noticing my uncomfortableness " my daughter is here now, what is it that you want?".
This statement confused me. Why had he wished to speak with me in the room? The stranger slowly turned to my father "ah yes… my king" he paused for a moment and looked around slightly. Everyone seemed confused, he then said "king Vorimer would like the princess to come to heal a sickness".
Everyone gasped at the name vorimer which made sense, well everyone except my father and I. I looked at my father and saw his face as it hardened. My father wasn't happy and you could tell. The man spoke once more once everyone calmed down " a plague has swept through our land and we need the strongest healer of the realm to help and that is your daughter" he explained of course as a healer I felt bad for them but there was no way i could help, i mean come on it's Vorimer the dark king he was the king of all five of the dark kingdoms . "Absolutely not! We won't help the dark king. Ever!" my father spoke angrily.
"Is that your final answer?" the man asked my father, who nodded proudly "yes. Now leave."
"The dark king will not be pleased." the man said, almost happy he then turned and left. Soon after he was gone everything went to chaos and everyone started to freak out and they were confused and scared. This is when I decided to speak up "everyone calm down we'll be fine the guards around our border will be increased i will go out myself if need be but until the threat is serious we need to continue on with our lives" this seemed to calm everyone down rather quickly my father dismissed everyone.
"Well done my little raindrop the last thing we need is for everyone to panic" he said with small smile
"Thank you father" I said with a small sigh "do you think we should be worried?" I asked looking at him
"We'll be fine raindrop" he responded seeming unconcerned
"Alright if you're sure " I said, bowing and walking out of the room. As I was walking down the corridor one of the maids approached me "my lady we require your assistance" she curtised I nodded "of course what can i help with?" The maid looked at me "there's a man who requires healing treatment" she responded "alright lead the way" i said with a gentle smile, she nodded and led the way to the infirmary I followed behind her. We soon reached the infirmary I entered after the maid and saw a man sitting in one of the three beds in there. I went over and sat in front of him on a chair " hello sir what seems to be the issue?" I said in a gentle tone. He looked at me "your highness thank you for coming to see me, I apologize for taking your time" he said dipping his head he seems to be having issues breathing "don't worry I like helping people so what's the matter" I smiled kindly "well I thought that it was just a cold or something but something different almost like its more aggressive " he said and then covered his mouth while he coughed I looked at his hand and saw his fingers turning black along with a rash this is when I became worried "alright let's see what i can do" I said hiding the worry in my voice i dipped my fingers in water and took his hand gently our hands glew and his breathing became easy he sighed in relief "thank you, your highness" i smiled "i don't feel completely better but it feels a lot better" he said his fingers were no longer black and the rash had gone away "alright well you should make a full recovery, here is some white willow bark just eat a bit if you feel a bit of pain" I smiled gently handed him the bark "thank you again your highness" he took the bark gently and stood bowing "have a good day" I smiled gently watching as the man as he gathered his things and left the infirmary I then decided to go train just incase something did happen though i was hoping that it wouldn't be necessary. I trained for the remainder of the day.
A week later the dust had settled and everything had gone relatively back to normal. I was on a ride along the edge of the castle borders with Ori, i had gone out for some fresh air so i had my favorite book along with my sword and dagger which were both kept on Oris saddle for my protection not that i thought it was necessary but my father wouldn't let me leave without them so i kept them close, i had actually fallen asleep with Ori laying around me. When I was on my way back to the castle a long time friend and the son of one of the lords, Darion, came riding out on his horse yelling something but I couldn't hear what he was saying. So we would meet halfway. He seemed to be out of breath and almost frightened "We need to get out of here right now!" he said frantically i was about to ask why but he spoke quickly again "the third dark kingdom is attacking" after he said this is when i noticed smoke rising from the castle my eyes widened "What! No, I can't just leave, we have to help them!" i said, i was blaming myself because while i had been napping my home and kingdom was being attacked. As the princess it was supposed to be my job to protect my people and my home and I had failed at both. I then started towards the castle but then an arrow flew past my face from behind me i turned to look at darion who had his bow in hand he was the one that had shot the arrow "princess, if you die any hope for the kingdom is lost" I looked at the castle thinking about all the people and then i looked down i knew he was right i sighed and turned and started riding away on Ori as darion followed on his horse. I stopped on a hill right before one would leave Lanthern i turned one last time looking at my burning home and then turned leaving the territory of Lanthern.
