Two can play the game

Tunde held Abby's hand and walked briskly towards the door. Abby who was finding it difficult to match her small steps with his large strides in her heels tried to free her hand from his strong grip to no avail.

"You are walking too fast, slow down, will you..."

"..."

"If you're not going to slow down then let go of my hand... I can certainly walk by myself..."

"..."

"Will you stop acting crazy!?..."

She continually protested like a stubborn child who didn't want to do her parent's bidding, while trying to free her hand from his too strong grip at the same time.

He neither stop walking nor let go of her hand. It was as if he was stone deaf to her complaint. He could hear her talking but he wasn't listening. His mind was focused on what she might do if he let go of her hand. He was afraid she would change her mind and go back to her date if he was not firm with her.
