Chapter 8: A Revelatory Night

Me and John, represented our companies together on the stage and got greetings from all the guests who were present at the ceremony. When I returned back to my table, Alexander was sitting at my seat staring and smiling at me, his date was nowhere to be seen while Jan was throwing daggers at him through his eyes.

“Alexander.” I acknowledged him and he stood up gracefully.

“Isabella, can I have you for a moment please?” He requested and I was astounded to the core because he’s not the person who adds ‘please’ in his statements. I nodded in agreement and Jan looked at me with shock.

“I’ll be right back, don’t worry!” I assured him lightly and he smiled forcibly at me in return. Alexander and I walked ourselves to a far end of the hall where no one was present and then he caged me, between him & the wall.

“Alexander, what are you doing?” I asked him with panic and he gave me his breathtaking smile.

“You don’t know how much I want you all to myself!” He leaned in and whispered in my ear. Then he bit down on my earlobe lightly, sending shivers down my spine. He also lightly sucked it, and my eyes fell shut.

“Alex…..aahh!!” He bit down on my neck at the sensitive spot and I involuntarily moaned.

“You know; you’re looking absolutely exquisite tonight.” Kiss. "I want to taste every inch of your sexy body…” Kiss. “I want to worship you until my last breath…” Kiss. “I want to thrust into that tight, sweet pussy of yours until you’re unable to walk stably.” Kiss. “I want to make you come until you remember only my name!” He talked huskily to me while rewarding me with his body numbing kisses on my neck and jaw-line.

“Alex…” I spoke breathlessly and he hummed in response.

“D…. don’t...!” I tried to think of what I wanted to say. Do I want him to stop or allow him to do whatever he wants to do?!.

“Don’t exploit her furthermore, Mr.Alexander.” I was trying to come to my senses when Jan’s voice startled us. My eyes opened back widely while Alexander instantly pulled away from me and glared at Jan with murderous eyes.

“Who the hell do you think you are to tell me what to do and what not to, huh?” He asked outrageously and I put my hands on his chest, to calm him down which worked like always. He turned his in my direction and then kissed me passionately in front of Jan. My eyes fell close and my arms wrapped themselves around his neck on their own accord. He ended the kiss, we were both breathless with the hot, possessive kiss. Alexander then looked back at Jan with a challenging smirk & then it all crashed down on me. I pushed Alexander away from me with a force and then came to Jan’s side who was watching everything from a distance.

“It’s not.....” I tried to explain but he wavered his hand dismissively.

“Isa, go and get your things. I’ll be back after talking to Mr.Alexander about something.” He said without looking at me and Alexander’s eyes twitched.

“Jan…” I tried to deny him but he turned towards me and looked in my eyes.

“Please!” And that stopped me from denying him. I nodded my head & then left them both alone.

When I approached the table, Camilla was lip-locked there with some handsome young man. I cleared my throat and they both jumped away from each other in shock. Camilla’s cheeks were flushed from the hot kiss as well the embarrassment while the man who already recovered from the initial shock, was now smirking.

“I...uh… I was leaving so I came back to collect my things.” I explained awkwardly and Camilla smiled at me after recovering from her shock.

“Yeah. We’ll meet again in the future. See you!” She waved enthusiastically at me and I chuckled.

“Yes, why not! By the way, I liked you.” I smiled sweetly at her and she blushed. I sighed in relief internally because of what I witnessed as it proved that she wasn’t into Alexander, romantically. I gave them both my most sweet smile and then left from there. I went to John, who was talking to some women while sipping on his wine. I spoke to them as well and then told him about my departure.

“I’m sure it’ll be a great pleasure and experience to work with you. I’ll surely don’t forget to thank my friend for recommending you for partnership.” He told me and I looked at him, confusedly.

“It’s an honor for me and my employees. I’m really thankful for the recommendation of your friend. Do I know him or what?” I asked him lightly and he grinned.

“I ate your ears out by talking about him before his arrival. I’m talking about Alexander.” He hinted and my body numbed for a second.

“Alexander Salvatore?” I tried to confirm and he nodded, confirming my suspicions.

“Okay, thank him also for bringing such a great opportunity to my company.” I mustered as much gratitude as possible, just to not show him my inner turmoil.

“I surely will.” He smiled genuinely at me.

“Goodbye, enjoy the great night!” I said and then went to the corner where I left Alexander & Jan alone. But they were not there anymore so I asked a lady who was standing there. She told me that she saw them going outside. I thanked her and then exited the hall, went to the back in search of them. But when I found them, they were talking in hushed voices and that irked my interest up. I went near them without their notice, in the shadows where I could hear them clearly.

“Don’t forget your place, Aslan!” Alexander said in a warning tone and Jan scoffed.

“Or what? You’ll tell Isabella about my real identity?” He mocked & my ears perked up.

“You know I can do much worse than this, but for now… that’ll do it!” Alexander’s tone told me that he was smirking.

“That’ll also be done for you too because it was you who assigned her to me.” That statement stopped my heart for a second.

“She already made me promise her to stay away. And I did fulfill my promise. But you…… she is unaware of your real identity and your mission, your motives.” Alexander threatened him.

“Bastard.” Jan cursed and Alexander laughed. I took a deep breath and then came out of the shadows in light for them to know about my presence. Jan saw me first and I saw the color drained from his face even in the dark.

“Isabella.” He acknowledged me, making Alexander turn towards me.

“I heard everything that’s necessary for me to know and I just wanted to say that I don’t want to see any of you near me.” Then I got away, without giving them a chance to react.

I reached my apartment building by taxi. Then I took a lift to the floor and unlocked my apartment. I launched myself on the couch, laying down on it carelessly because my mind and heart was splaying all over the place. Both of them played me smartly and I was really dumb to not understand their motives. I can expect anything from Alexander but Jan….. he disappointed me so much. Alexander was determined to win me back and Jan saw everything from the start but he didn’t feel the need to tell me the truth. I know I would be sad, I would fight with him, I would be upset but eventually I would forgive him for this. Unfortunately, he chose to sweetly lie on my face rather than telling the bitter truth and that was what upset me. If he can lie like that now, he can also do that again. That is what upsets me about people, they never learn from their mistakes. They choose to disappoint rather than being real on the face. They lie to you, stab you from behind and act like everything is perfect or you’re the cruel one here who doesn’t know how to forget and forgive!

I was wondering when a hard knock on the door startled me. I left the couch and walked to the door. I thought that it’ll be Jan who came to apologize because I wasn’t expecting someone else so I opened the door without much thought.

“Jan I……..” My sentence died down on my tongue when I witnessed what was in front of me.
