Katniss's words echoed in Mia's mind. The secretary really didn't think the model could guess that accurately.

However, with too much worry, her brain had trouble processing ideas. Before she could speak, Julian had already made the problem worse.

"Don't you know? I have known Mia since she was born. We even lived in the same house for a dozen years.”

With fading warmth, Katniss turned her gaze to the secretary. "Why didn't you tell me about it, Miss Sanders? I have no idea that your relationship turns out to be this intimate.”

“P-please don't misunderstand. Mister Julian and I are like siblings," Mia explained, trying to kill the seeds of "misunderstanding".

"But I think we are more than that," the man chimed in, successfully adding to the chill in the air that enveloped them.
