Chapter 11: Breath...

"How was your week off, was it chill and helped the Brain clutter after seeing that?" Janece asked after hearing Derek dropping out of his cloud of smoke form behind on their vantage point. "It was refreshing" Derek answered her question as he walked up closer to see what the others were looking at below. "felt longer than it was for you, because you need to slow your roll from here on out, little Gray." Janece replied as she halted him by touching his shoulder. "Little Gray?" Derek asked with a face full of confusion. "C'mon, your middle name and you being five feet, smaller than the average height of a boy your age?" Janece replied showing her confusion with her own expression. "I'm getting mentored by the world's greatest investigative team. I figured how you found it, I'm just confused if I can call you Sasquatch pink or not?" Derek fired back at her. He left her speechless but her face was expressionless while their eye contact wouldn't let up. "Don't worry, you don't need to worry about that one flying over my head." Janece eventually replied before the two bursted out in tears from the laughter. Derek shook his head, he couldn't help but laugh with her and at her, as was the case with herself. "Alright, children, back to the task." Dustin interrupted a roast session that was going to escalate after chuckling himself from his little sister's last retort. Dustin, Tal and Lowelle were spying on the events happening below them in an abandoned building. The CPD's S.W.A.T unit and Police chief Phineas arrived at the scene.

"What have you guys been up to while I was lazing?" Derek asked while Lowelle offered his binoculars and pointed where he's supposed to look. "Sir Watson in the color Aqua and I have been piecing clues and tracking down more criminals in the city searching for the head of operations himself, confidently, we've found him and it's now up to your home's law to deliver Justice. We can only be confident because of Lowelle confirming their presence without us having to risk sneaking in." Dustin filled Derek and felt grateful to his little brother as he and everyone watched events below begin. The UNIT raided, gassed and bursted through the windows and entrances. "We've solved their problem, that favor's done fulfilled, yes." Said Tal as he watched with his brothers. "Favor?" Derek asked while Lowelle felt something going very wrong below. Lowelle saw the energy of the men from the unit that was sent inside signatures vanishing quicker than he believed regular humans are capable of accomplishing, the others began reacting to Lowelle's obvious shock and awe. The clouds in the skies began to look ready to start a light storm. The ones with the binoculars saw the building trembling and cracking, they saw members of units flying through the buildings and blatant cracks appearing in other parts as if monsters were battling inside. Derek immediately leapt from their safe vantage point to go assist the unit in the one sided battle and find survivors, The Presence siblings were forced to follow him down, without his speedy powers, they were lacking behind him.

"Overcoming an epic threat can add flavor to our success, it amplifies the unrivaled ecstasy." Said Proxtere as he manipulated the wind around and finished his attackers as he sent them flying through the wind. "That's crazy, boss." Said Dae-Shim as he utilized his brute strength to pulverize his own. "Not crazier than this world, we've finished up here, we've got a couple local caverns to traverse, we don't have time nor reason to seek out our admirer. Let's go!" Proxtere reasoned and commanded his team as they headed out the back way. Derek arrived through a hole left in the building in his cloud of smoke form, but very late, one unit member was left conscious but clinging to life. Flashbacks of his parents and missing brother. Last memories of Jacob, Drake and Jessica Wiley popped into his head before the thoughts that the man he was holding the hand of as he held him in arms could have a family, children, brothers and sisters or missing dear ones he'll never be able to find because he reached his story's conclusion. A tear dropped from his eyes as he was staring into the gaze of the tall, dark, gray eyed creature with falling ash in a corner behind him. He felt the creature's lifeless stare and got chills from it but his focus wasn't fully on it, as he had always been successful shrugging this mysterious creature off of him. Derek unintentionally through his wrath boiling tightened his grip on the man's hand. "Broken home." Derek mumbled with a quiet voice before he laid his head down gently. He rested his chin on his chest as refused to let his tears waterfall. Sometime passed them by but Lowelle's exceptional abilities helped the team track down the villains who escaped with the assistance of research from Tal and imagination from Dustin and Janece. Derek's wrath and craving for vengeance, feelings he thought he had overcome, was boiling up and at their tipping point while feeling useless and the realization of how inexperienced he is in comparison to them, he swore to himself that he'd become helpful when his time with the villains arrives.
