Lost her (Part - 1)

"What's your name?" asked Cassie to the young wolf in front of her.

Looking at her without any expression, he turned her gaze and said, "Aegir! They call me Aegir".

He seemed to be a guy who was obedient and silent together with being emotionless.

Holding his index finger, she walked and walked and got irritated with the continuous walk with her tiny legs.

"Where are you taking me and how long will it take to reach there?" she asked while frowning.

"I work at the Kitchen, so I am taking you there, since I need a helper," he replied.

Wow! He is indeed a fool! Does he really believe that I will be able to do kitchen work with this tiny arms of mine and forget about doing, I don't even know how to wash dishes since in my 200 years, I never needed to do these works.

"I… I thought that you all are his bodyguard or subordinate or whatever.. never knew that you work as a chef," said Cassie hesitantly while biting her nails.

"This is a city where human and other creatures lives together and boss doesn't like humans working in his place, so all the wolf living here distribute the work among them," he replied. He was replying as a robot, no irritation, no curiousness, he was but a totally bot wolf who acted like a robot and answered all her question without rebelling.

Hmm.. he is not so bad, since other might have started to diss me because I am a child  and knows nothing more then questioning.

But now that I think about it, is it not a perfect time to escape from this werewolves place since Kye is not keeping a watch on me!

Even if I don't have much power, still living among humans won't be a problem and once I got my power, I can start my mission of finding out the traitors who tried to kill me.

Aegir glanced at her and stopped. Looking ahead at a big door where a butcher was slicing a chicken  on the desk of the kitchen without blinking his eyes, Cassie glanced at Aegir and smiled awkwardly.

"The kitchen is big and filled with many things, but it seems that there are only a few people and some might be outside or not here," Cassie said as she looked at the butcher whose eyes were looking at the chicken pieces murderously.

"No! There is only two people who works in the kitchen, one is me and the another one is him and now we have you but if I think about it..," he paused while thinking hardly.

Yeah, quickly think and understand that there is no way I can do these greasy works with my tiny hand. Now, say it and satisfy my…

Her ears perked up to hear his words.

"But now that I think about it, you are useless!" he said.

Cassie jaws dropped.

Even though she wanted him to say that she is, too, small to do it, hearing the word 'useless' stabbed her ego and she bounced with anger.

"Who are you calling useless! Have you ever seen a beauty like me being useless?!" she shouted with her small lips and panted as the loud shout took her breath.

"Then what can you do in the kitchen?" he asked.

She fumed while being enraged but as she parted her lips to tell him about her talents, her mouth again glued.

It was a K.O for her and she said while being agitated, "I.. I can't… can't do anything".

Aegir sighed and glanced here and there to think of way to keep her busy.

"I can't do it because I am so small but I am not useless!" she said as she looked up at him with her sparkling eyes.

His expression didn't changed but inside his head, he was gasping because of her cuteness.

Huh! This cold jerk, it's a waste to use my cute attack on him, tsk, tsk!.

"So, what do I need to do?" she asked while frowning and looking down.

There was a window beside where Aegir was standing and he looked outside.

"Hmm.. it's not safe for you to go outside, so just do some errand when I ask you for," said Aegir and stepped inside the Kitchen.

The butcher looked at them as they stepped inside.

Cassie imagination ran wild as her eyes met his. It gave her a chill as his eyes sparkled red while looking at her and slicing the chicken mercilessly at the same time.

Heuk!! Do I look like a chicken to him because my body is small? Why is he staring at me with his killing eyes?

"Who is she? Is she the rumored child who came along with the master?" the butcher asked as he walked closer.

His stern and scary face can make a laughing kid cry without any reason and here I am gasping with his every words. It's good that I am not really a child or I might ended up crying and dying like those chicken.

"Yes, she is the rumored child who came with the master. Master ordered me to take care of her, so I brought her here along with me," Aegir replied and pushed little Cassie gently toward the butcher who had a muscular body.

Cassie looked at him while turning back, she was confused as to why he pushed her ahead.

"If master gave her to us, rather then giving her to higher ups to take care, then it only means that she is not that important to him but he still needs her alive. If he would have given her to someone else of similar status to us, then she might have died within a day," he said and looked at Cassie pale face.

Cassie corner lips were twitching as she forced a smile and eyelids were lowered even though she forced it to raise.

"Oh, my! Did I scared the child, just now?" the butcher said.

"Did you just realized it now! Now, hurry up with your work, we need to prepare good food for our master," said Aegir and took an apron hanging on the wall.

"Hahaha! I didn't mean to scare you young child but it would be better for you to not run here and there, since there are many rascals who will be willing to toy with a child," the butcher said.

Cassie gulped as she looked at him nervously.

He may look like a scary person but he doesn't seemed to be bad. I may get along with them, but…. What should I do now?

As they started to work, Cassie took a table and carried it with all her strength and put it near the desk where Aegir was boiling eggs.

"What should I do?" she asked, her eyes filled with confidence.

"Nothing!" he replied and crumbled her confidence.

"It is said that the King have brought a young child in his mansion," said someone while laughing.

"Who knows why he have brought her but it seems that he doesn't care about her, so how about we go and entertain ourselves," said another voice.

"It would be fun, but do you think that the King will be angry if that child dies while we were on our way to have fun," a heavy voice echoed inside the room where only two person was sitting on the chairs.

"So, you are here! We both were thinking of taking you along for the fun, and who cares even if the king is mad, he will not be able to do anything to us since our family is supporting him".

They all laughed and stood up.

Kitchen:

Huh! All they gave me is to dry this plates while sitting away from them, but I have to say, the butcher is good to me.

Just by seeing my cute face he gave me ice-cream to eat. Hmm.. it's been a long time since I last ate it, I feel so relaxed.

With her one hand, she picked up cup and bowls and with another hand, she cleaned it with a clean small towel.

But then again, why are there so many plates which needed to be cleaned!

I, Cassie Viotto, will start with my plan and start the process to escape from this beautiful building which is keeping wolfs in human skin.

Hehehe! Here I go!

She stood up and threw the towel used for drying the plates and glanced at Aegir and the butcher.

They both were busy with their work and then she glanced at the door where no one was present.

Cassie Viotto, here she goes!

With a big smile, she stepped out but gasped.

Half an hour later…

"Aegir! Have you seen the cute girl? Where is she now? I can't seem to find her," said the butcher as he searched under the tables and desks.

He didn't even left the closets but she was nowhere to be seen!

Aegir glanced at the butcher worried face and looked around to find her. The plates he gave her to dry, was left as they were but she was not there, neither in the whole kitchen.

The expressionless Aegir was now worried for Cassie but he could not step out since it was already time for him to sent out the food prepared for the King.

"Mr. Butcher, go and search for her while in the mean time, I will go and serve the King," he said nervously and stepped out while dragging the trolley filled with delicious food.

As soon as Aegir entered inside the dinning room where Kye was sitting and having conversations with some of his people, he gulped.

Kye started to stare at his way.

He wasn't staring at the trolley nor at Aegir but he was trying to find Cassie with his anxious heart.

"Is she behaving well?" he asked even though he wanted to ask something else.

Leaving the trolley alone, Aegir stepped forward and kneeled, his head down and he said, "We lost her and right now I have send Mr. Butcher to find her in my place".
