TYING KNOTS WITH THE DEVIL’S SON

Knowing what mess I had drawn myself into: I knew I could not do anything to help myself. I was only nineteen and living in my parents house. The only alternative was to lock the door. But I was too late for that. They were already in.

Few seconds later, whips were speeding in my face. But what worried me most was the almighty noise made by mother. She did not keep quiet even for some minutes. And it was four in the morning. The kids had even shut up to listen to what was going on.

I had ruined my day. Even after morning, she would be making noise but avoid shouting. I knew that the swahili saying, "akufukuzaye hakwambii toka" had slowly started to reveal itself. I was now a grown up and needed to take care of myself.

Luckily, I had already packed and ready to go for my first job. The interview was at two in the afternoon. All thanks to my teachers that when it was about formal education, I was smart. And so that's how i got my job. In addition, the company gave me money to start my life as a worker.

The first few months were well. In fact, they were perfect, until Tom had a glimpse of my whereabouts. He had heard that my life had changed. So he invited me to a restaurant to talk more. The very first question was, why did you forget me. Cup after cup for champagne I drank, until I was pretty enough for a party. And so dancing took over. I danced for a while but something changed. I started feeling like a lion. Bold enough to fight everyone in the club.

Without second thought,, i gave a mate a hard blow to lay him unconscious. But that was the end of the beginning. Last i remember was falling down unconscious too. Then waking up in a hospital.

Then i wondered, why do every party am involved with, misfortunes are always close? Either in dreams or be real?

I concluded I was not born lucky and started listening to the large television on the wall. It was about a narrative of how important taking chances are.

What comes in your mind when you hear of a blind man? Perhaps disability? Or is it inability? Maybe you are right, its a stressing thought to lack sight. But here is one of the incredible and unbelievable story of someone's disadvantage turning to his best advantage.

It all started twenty years ago when a very unpopular guy finished his high-school. He said that school life was like a living hell to him and most of the time, he could regret the day he was born. Not to mention the many times the idea of contemplating suicide flowed in his mind. He had suffered mockery from his peers, isolation from those he had known to be friends, rejection from his family and this pained him most. Many times he had depression and deep thoughts and this affected his journey in education in a very great way. He failed terribly. He had grown up in the care of his grandmother and well-wishers who felt pity for him but soon they would tire of assisting. He greatly depended on bursaries offered by the government until he finished school.

As usual, his residence suffered whirlwind which brought loess and sand to their town. At that time, it happened so quickly that no one had planned for. Thanks to his disability that that was nothing to worry him about.

He walked home so disappointed that he didn't talk to anyone. It was at that time when nations had risen amongst each other and explosives were busy doing their work. As the scientists say, nuclear energy is always accompanied by radiation. This radiation causes casual damage to bodies like cancer, blindness among others.

In his sleep trying to relax his mind, a bomb was fired and its action was two miles away which caused an earthquake. Zachary was his name. The earthquake caused Zachary to fall from his bed and this was followed by a great yell. He had a very serious cut in his abdomen and in addition, water had entered the wound and this caused pain in the whole of his body. In a few moment, he had paralyzed.

Luckily, help got to him very fast. After five minutes, he was on his way to hospital. His grandmother almost collapsed upon hearing these news. She shed tears and sweared that if he died, she would curse God and made sure she destroyed at least a church. Though that was a pretty big promise she had made, time would be the judge.

Everyday she visited him in the hospital. Hours turned to days. Days turned to weeks. Weeks turned to months. Yet no signs of recovery. Within that period, Zachary's granny time of being alive was over. And so she passed away.

One month later, His heart began to beat faster. Doctors were shocked with this. He started showing signs of recovery. But everyone had given up on him. No one was there for him or to receive the good news.

But the struggle for existence was over and came out as a winner. Surprisingly, immediately after uttering the first word from his mouth, his body showed abnormal healing. His cells were healing so fast that even those doctors could not explain the science behind this.

Lucky to him, a nurse was attending to him trying to remind him things like walking, until he could be on his feet back on himself. The question was, how could he fail to walk but remember everything since it all started. He asked the nurse, "my grandmother loved me so much. But the day she died, i felt like someone set free from handcuffs. Could there be anyway my life suffering tethered with granny's living yet she was a believer?"

The nurse had nothing to say. All she could tell him is to rest. And for sure, rest provided success recovery. Two months later, he would be an active athlete, swimmer and a martial arts student. He quitted all the sports except swimming. He specialised on swimming having an advantage of mastery of a pool and no eye interference with water. But that was not all. He was immune to any form of pain originating from head. Be it headaches, brainstress among others. This remained a mystery in the books of his doctors.

One year later, he had already won the division level, regional level, national level and he was about to hit the international level. Every one with doubt confirmed that he was drug free and did not cheat in any way possible. His muscles had adapted to swimming, you would even mistake him for a fish. Every time he faced any opponent, he would simply become the first regardless of the opponents master-training.

Now everyone was waiting for him to face the greatest swimmer in the continent. The day was well planned, but it ended up with a "what? Or a how" in every mouth of the spectators. In short, he had given him a seventy metre distance. He even waited for a whole three minutes for him to reach the end of the pool. Nobody believed it. Now, he had earned a ticket for trans-continental swimming contest.

His story did not go popular since many people concluded that if not drugs, it was obviously sorcery. Now, he had adapted well to water and had masterd the flow of vibration in water. He said that vibration is what allows him to know the direction of the flow. Soon, the contest arrived. But as usual, he was the champion in swimming. He had won. And now there was no other higher level of competition. So it had to be done him having the title, "the big shark".

Weeks later, his doctors came with breathtaking news. Every explanation to what was happening was out.

They explained that during the day of his accident, the cut caused his muscles to contact very hard, water made them to relax suddenly. Radiation from nuclear energy caused spontaneous or gradual change or what we call mutation in his cell allowing them to adapt to the water in his cut.

Even him could not believe how a poor nobody turned to be Zachary The great swimmer. And he had his answer now. His grandmother loved him very much.

By the end of the narration, I had my answer. Take your chances. So I knew i would use my money to build a magnificent building, install all dance party requirements and will be making money from holding parties there. And after two years of hard work, that is exactly what I did. And named the building, PARTY IN HELL. I then waited for my first customer to give them my worst.
