Chapter 6

I've heard lots of things in my life, some scarcely moved me, others were surprising but what am hearing right now is the most shocking.

Owen was still talking "I found out you didn't know you were being followed, you were so carefree that you didn't notice that someone followed you around.

Leaving for work early and coming back late in the night was your fucking routine." he smiled at me but I made no movement so he continued.

"The boss came down with Jeff. I know you call him the driver but he's not a driver, he knows how to drive yeah, just like every else but he's a high ranking member of our team, if the boss had a favorite, he'd be the one.

"I don't know how to drive." I said my voice barely a whisper.

"What?!! he exclaimed.

"Yeah!"

"I never could have thought of it."

I've always been more preoccupied with staying alive and surviving my whole life.

Not his fault, most girls my age have their driving license and most times they're busy with acquiring the best of the best which is probably a good thing.

If I had the opportunity, I might have done same.

Who the fuck was following me and why? I thought about the people I've come across on my way to and fro my workplace and only one person struck out, the MYSTERY GUY!

Hell! It can only be him, leaning on the sides with his eyes on the shop.

Clara said he gives her creeps and yeah, he did look familiar to me because I've seen him on my neighborhood probably when he was following me around.

"We couldn't save you with the guy sticking around because all he had to do was place a call and then things would have gotten complicated.

The boss had to take care of him."

Well that explains why I didn't see him after closing from work, but wait..

"What do you mean by the boss took care of him? Did you call the cops on him?"

"The cops? he chuckled. Are you kidding me? Who the fuck wanna deal with the cops?"

"If he didn't call the cops on him then how did he take care of him?" I asked trying to avoid the thought that was creeping into my head.

"It's not something you should worry about?" he smiled but the smile didn't reach his eyes.

"Is.. is he dead?" I stuttered

"It was either him or the boss." he said, looking squarely at me.

Death isn't a new thing to me, at the orphanage kids died.

Some from hunger others from sickness that could be cured if the orphanage had money for better medicines.

I looked squarely at him and saw him grin.

"Outwardly, you're Lina but inwardly, naa"

"What do you mean?"

"Yeah you've got the same walk, same smile." he was looking me up and down.

You heard someone was killed and maintained your cool, that's something Lina could never do.

"You expected me to cry? Well fuck me!"

"The way you talk? Jesus! Lina was mad loyal but you, you're more of a rebel."

"Am no rebel! Am loyal to myself, not like I've got anyone else to be loyal to anyway." I deadpan.

"Well, you've got us now and loyalty is word here."

"What the fuck was that supposed to mean? You guys ain't letting me go?" I shrilled.

"That's for the boss to decide."

"What... I started and stopped as a voice yelled

WE'RE HERE!

I heard sounds of laughter, I looked at Owen and he was laughing too.

"We're home sweetie."

"What do you mean?" I frowned.

"This is the base."

That was when I noticed it, the helicopter was lowering, I looked down and saw dozens of men looking up and waving.

I saw a building.

It was more like a palace or castle.

It was just so huge, one the biggest buildings I've ever seen.

Those guys really have a thing for massive buildings I thought.

I was scared to go down because there were so many men waiting.

Owen seemed to know my thought because he offered his hand and said

"Come on." I gripped it without delay and he pulled me up.
