Chapter 6

"I trust you will." That was all Alex said to her before they arrived at the restaurant, where he asked one table for two.

He pulled the chair for her and then, he took his seat.

"So, what is it you wanted to tell me?" Camilla asked.

"I'll tell you how did I end up with that bitch and why I treated her the way I did when we first saw each other." He moved with his finger that indicated he and Camilla.

"Okay."

"But, before that, I told you I wanted to eat."

Camilla got up to start to serve herself, but she saw no buffet around.

"The maitre will bring the food, don't worry. There he comes."

A middle-aged man came towards them. Camilla sat back on her seat, feeling quite ignorant. For all she knew about hotels, there was a buffet for breakfast, not a waiter serving.

"Good morning, Mr. Strauss, Miss Bakers." Camilla raised an eyebrow at the man. How did he know her name?

The man gave them the menu and after they chose what they wanted, the man excused himself and left.

"This is different." She commented.

"I prefer like that than a bunch of people together, lining up, to get food. It is like any self-service restaurant. That is not what I want for my hotel. If it was just like the others, why would it cost more money?"

He said that and Camilla noticed how proud he was of his hotel service. Indeed, everything there was special. It was worth the price.

"I liked your hotel very much. I have an idea of what I am going to write about this experience."

"I can't wait to see what marketing are you going to come up with." He smiled genuinely. He approached that company just because he made a little research about Camilla and found out that she worked there. He was thinking about promoting the hotel chain, so, it was a good decision to contact Image and Action! He knew the owner, George Reed, was a very serious and capable man.

The food arrived and they both started to eat. Alex asked for so much food that Camilla was curious to see if he was going to be able to eat all of that. When he did, she was impressed.

"How can you eat so much?" She asked before she thought. He laughed a bit louder.

"Look at my size, baby. I have to eat a lot to keep all of this." He moved with his hand of shoulder to his lower body. "I work out a lot and I have always had a fast metabolism. If I don't eat properly and just exercise, I'll end up skinny and not this handsome specimen in front of you." He was smirking and she rolled her eyes. Did he really think so highly of himself?

" I see. Well, I envy you. I wish I could eat like this and keep a nice body."

"So I have a nice body, huh?" His face was very cynic. Camilla could hold back a smile of how silly Alex Strauss was!

"You know you do. You don't need me to inflate your ego."

"I like your compliments. Your opinion is different to me." He said, now without smiling.

"Why?" She asked, curious.

"I don't know. I just feel it." Alex has always been a very sincere person. He hated games. He might be playful and all, sometimes, but if he could be straightforward, he was. "Now, Claire Wilson."

Camilla nodded. She wanted to understand why he did act so badly toward that woman. The first opinion she made about him, right after that, was that he was a heartless asshole, full of himself. Okay, he was a bit full of himself, but he didn't seem to be a bad person.

"My family keep pestering me to marry. I have no brothers or sisters, Miss Bakers. And when I turned 25, they started to ask me to meet a few women they had previously searched for me. After a few blind dates, I met Claire. She was the best option among the others, which suited me best. I accepted to keep a relationship with her and ended up getting attached."

"So, it was your family doing?"

"In part. But I admit that I decided to try it with her. In the beginning, even she was a bitch sometimes with others, she was nice to me and acted as she cared for me. My family wanted me to date and marry someone from one of the best families in Los Angeles, at least. The Wilsons are in the fashion industry. You probably heard of them: Wilson's Fashion"

"Yes, I did. I know many companies through my work, not because I am interested in them or use their services. There is no way for me to buy anything from Wilson's Fashion." She said, taking a sip of her orange juice. "And what happened for you to treat her like that?"

"She was cheating on me. She never showed any signs of being unfaithful, but I decided to go to the golf club that day, to surprise her and, later, ask her to marry me. We were already living together, practically. But then, I was the one surprised: I saw in a corner, fucking with some guy."

Camilla's mouth was open ajar after hearing what he said.

"Really??"

"Yep. She met him in there, that morning. That is what she told me, trying to say she was not into a relationship with him. But it made all worse, after all, she was telling me that she used to fuck anyone, anywhere. Disgusting, actualy. She is not the first one to cheat on me. During college, my first girlfriend did that. I must have something very wrong in myself." He said, bitterly.

"This is crazy. She was at least using a condom? And maybe it is just that you had bad luck with women. Is that why you became a womanizer?"

"I don't know. But I went to the doctor and had a complete check-up. No diseases. And yes, I think that is the reason why. I tried again with Claire. And, now, you."

"At least that." Camilla have always run away from those people who liked to fuck with just anyone. Every people has its own freedom, of course, but she was insecure about it: what if the person had a disease? Just then she realized what he said. "Me?"

"Yeah. Now, I want you to be my girl." He drank from his glass, looking at her and he licked his lips. She remembered last night, and what was he licking. She got embarrassed.
