Chapter 97

Emma couldn't hear much. She was too terrified. 

Alex heard Taran getting out of the hideout. He turned to the man and pointed at Emma. But they could not talk. The men hunting Alex down were still around, because they didn't hear the door being closed. 

Alex tried again to shake Emma, in order to make her pay attention to him, but to no avail. 

"Hey, look." one of the men said. "Somebody took a shower." 

Taran looked at Alex and this one shrugged his shoulders. Was he supposed to stink the whole time? Wasn't it bad enough that he didn't have deodorant? He was not one to stink easily, but anyway…

"Let's take a look outside, through the backdoor." Another man said and the door closing was finally heard.

-Help me here with her!" Alex asked Taran. "We need to get out before they come back! All the trash is outside!" 

Taran nodded and they helped Emma to get up and climb down the stairs.
