Chapter 10- Dating?

They continued dancing gracefully to the music and it felt like they were the only ones in the ballroom, the music stopped and they were both smiling at each other, "Listen, I'm sorry for being angry at you for no reason." Devonte said , his voice full of sincerity. "It's okay, I over reacted." Mariyah replied, she was happy, happy that their little feud was over. "Follow me. " he said and held her hand tightly

He led her through the hallways and took her to a room, the room was also elegant like the whole mansion. "Please sit." he said and Mariyah couldn't help but obey so she sat on the closest seat she found. "This is my family's mansion." he said and Mariyah noticed his tone had suddenly changed. "Ok, what about that?" she asked knowing fully well he was going to say something she wouldn't like. "As the first born, I have a lot of responsibilities." he continued. "Okay?", he stared at her making her feel awkward, "Well.. I need to have a girlfriend." he said. 'There is no way this is happening. ' she thought to herself. "Then find one." she replied stating to feel the sudden urge to run from the room. "You know what I mean Mariyah." he said as she leaned down to reach her face. "I- I'm your PA." she said while hoping he would change his mind. "Nobody needs to know about that." he said his voice was sounding so.. 'Get your mind out of the gutter.' Mariyah scolded herself. "Boss, I find this position really awkward." she said when she noticed he was getting too close to her. "Fine." he said , a little bit of anger in his voice, "Just go and talk to my parents. " he said while backing her and he left the room.

Mariyah went into deep thought, what just happened replayed in her head. Mr. Devonte had asked her to be his girlfriend! She had to tell Yuri about this, "Found you!" Devin's voice surprised her, it was like he appeared out of this air. "Devin.." she said and stood up, "It's nice to see you again." "Are you and my brother like a thing now?" he asked while chuckling, almost like he didn't believe it. "I- We- I - um.. we are just good friends that's all." she replied. They walked to the ballroom, which had all of sudden looked like it was less crowded as if people left the party. A man ran to Devin, "Sir, I'd like to speak to you privately." it was Davis, Devonte's butler, he said something in Devin's ear and he cursed "He's the older one for nothing" Mariyah heard him say, she noticed the man he was talking to just remained silent. "I have to do something, help yourself." he said and disappeared .

Mariyah walked to the table where food was being served, she sat on one of the luxurious cushions and started to eat the food she served, then a man who looked like he was in his sixties walked towards her, she noticed a woman holding his hand and she was wearing a blue dress, she also looked old and for some reason they looked familiar to her, "You must be Mariayh." the man said as he looked at her face, like he was studying it. "Yes sir.", "How can my two sons be interested in this dim wit." the woman said out of nowhere. Dim wit? 'Oh.. hell no.' Mariyah calmed herself down. "Actually, she has good looks it's just that she isn't from a rich family." the man said. Rich? So she had to be rich? " I'm sorry sir and ma but do I have to be rich to date any of your sons. " she asked with utmost respect. "Of course." the woman said. "But it's okay we can accept low people like you. " she continued. That was the last straw for Mariyah, "Sorry sir but I have something to do now." she said and left the them, she ran to the bathroom and vented out her anger on the walls.

After punching the walls, she looked at the mirror, adjusted her hair and walked out of the bathroom. Surprisingly the whole place was empty every one seemed to be watching something so she went to were the crowd was , she didn't see what was happening but she heard Devonte's voice, "Leave me alone!" he screamed, it was Devin's voice that followed, "Don't be rude dear brother." They were arguing in public, "Let's settle this with a quick duel." she couldn't tell who said it but she was worried that they'll injure themselves and she was determined to stop that from happening.
