The breathtaking greenery, like that of paradise, bordered with the blood-red, scarred Valleys where layers of minerals puckered the earth was the landscape of the famous Land of fire.

Though now, the constant battles and never-ending war had taken a toll on this pristine land. The trees were all chopped by the charcoal burners to feed the insatiable fires of the iron makers to forge weapons.

This land was now famously known as the "Devil's land", where people perished every day. Some die instantly while others slowly. Some pass away from hunger, while others trying to evade hunger.

It's a cycle with no end but death.

As a young child, Madara used to listen to his clansman discussing the past; talking of the good times and the bad. But to the young boy, they seemed like the same.

All bad.

His homeland was considered as a land of glorious histories, but it was not all glory like most people prefer to remember things as.

Heir to the famous Uchiha clan, the young boy used to listen to the tales of hell that his people recounted. They talked of the terrible times when there was no food, water, or place to call home. The continents were fighting amongst each other, causing unfathomable horrors and endless suffering, a time when populations wandered from land to land, trying to settle down, to find a place to call "Home."

In this world, few lived past the age of thirty.

Madara crouched in the snow, helping Izuna up who was laying flat on the ground just moments ago. It seemed like the little boy was still having trouble with maintaining balance.

The next moment the older boy watched as the onyx eyes in front of him flickered, upon hearing their mother scream.

'Not again!' He frowned. She was in pain and he hated it. It was the same when his younger brothers were born. He could never understand why she must birth more babies if it brought her so much pain? And why doesn't father ever stop her? Whenever he asked her these questions, she would always reply with, 'You will understand once you grow up.'

But that only confused him since he could never understand adults and their pointless sufferings.

The younger boy looked at him, eyes filled with worry, "M-Mother! Is she in pain?"

He loathed such a sight in his brother's eyes. How could he show how he truly felt when they depended on him like this?

Moments like these always felt like a burden.

"She will be alright, Izuna. Don't worry."

"But she's screaming!"

"She screamed when you were born, same for the twins. It's no different this time." he replied, calmly.

"Then... will I have another brother?" Izuna smiled, eyes filled with excitement.

Madara wondered for a moment how this boy changed his moods so swiftly?

Nodding in agreement, he patted his head,"Yes."

Somewhere deep in his heart, he knew mother will be fine. She was strong-like father always boasted about. And this wasn't the first time she had gone through this.

'How noisy.' Tajima thought.

The head nurse kept shouting orders to her juniors, and Tajima was waiting outside the room, where presently, his wife was delivering their fifth child.

After another half an hour of waiting, the door finally opened and the old nurse bought him the baby covered in a pink towel. "A healthy princess, my Lord."

Tajima looked at her and his usual stern expression softened. He held the child in his arms stiffly. Anko, who was watching him, smiled. Even after fathering four children, he was still awkward in holding a child in his arms.

Tajima called out for his sons-Madara and Izuna. When they arrived, he showed them the new member of the family. The eldest son Uchiha Madara turned Five years old recently, Izuna was three years old and the twins Arata and Taka were two years old.

Madara stepped forward and took the child in his arms. "The same black hair." He mumbled, recalling how he held the twins when they were born. Izuna stepped forward, wishing to hold the child, "lemme hold it! lemme hold it."

"Shh! keep quiet Izuna."

'He might drop the child for amusement and roll it all over the place.' He thought, studying his overtly excited little brother gazing at the child as if it were another one of his toys. Sighing, he fixed his gaze back on the baby.

'It... looks like a potato.' The baby had a full head of hair, unlike the twins who were bald when they were born. "What's his name, father?"

Tajima looked surprised, "She's your little sister. Would you like to suggest any names?"

'Huh? A GIRL?'

'I don't know many girl names! w-what should I suggest?' Madara looked around at random things for some idea.

"Umm, how's... Yuki?" He replied, looking at the snow outside. The moment he suggested it, he felt stupid. It was not imaginative at all and he said it just as he saw it!

"Hmm, Yuki. It's good... since she's born in winter." Tajima mumbled, giving it some thought. He looked pleased with the name, "So our fifth child is Uchiha Yuki," He declared, taking the child and placing her back in Anko's arms.

"But I want to hold it too!" Izuna complained.

"The child is hungry Izuna. It has to be fed." Tajima chided him.

Smiling, Anko patted the little boy's head, "It's alright dear, he's too young to realize."

"Well then, it's almost dinnertime. I need to settle some work before dinner. Madara, keep an eye on your sister if your mother falls asleep."

"Yes, father."

After feeding Yuki, Anko got up from her bed and ordered her servants to prepare the bath.

"Madara, will you hold your sister for some time?" she requested.

Madara nodded and held the child in his arms again.

'She's so tiny.'

Yuki yawned and opened her eyes. He stared into her eyes as he took notice of the beautiful shade of grey in them, similar to their mother's but much lighter and clearer.

The baby yawned again. He waited a bit longer until she was breathing steadily, giving him the sign that she has fallen asleep. This baby was much calmer than his other siblings.

He knew Mother didn't wish for this child to become a shinobi. He'd heard his parents discuss this matter several times before.

His gaze soon fixed onto her soft features and pure innocence. Madara was glad that this child was a girl and won't be sent to the battlefield to die. She won't be tainting her hands with the blood of others, and he can protect and watch over her, just like his other siblings.

Smiling, he stroked her cheek before leaning to kiss her forehead.
