Fortunate Sky Sect

As the elder was finishing up testing the last few applicants, everyone else who passed spoke passionately about their scores and discussed with each other about their future plans. Well that is if they had some people to discuss with in the first place, I could see scattered throughout the crowd that there were some considerably lonely looking people.

There was one notable example though, a man who had a prominent eye color that looked quite distinguished from the others who passed. The color of his eyes were of a yellow a dark yellow. He waited as the rest of us did as well all the while scanning the crowd. When I looked away his gaze passed over me, yet from the corner of my eye I noticed that his eye color changed for a second.

'Hmm, interesting. Oh well. I'll probably won't see him much anyway so there's no need to remember him.'

As the elder finished testing the last person he gathered the attention of the area.

"Out of the 1213 people who joined today 237 of you passed and I congratulate you for the ability to join our sect. Spectators you may now leave as the rest of the procedure shall be conducted within the sect." Afterwards he led the remaining members out of the city towards the west.

'Well being in that city didn't last very long, I thought we'd have to search way more then we did. Although I barely passed I still got in and that's all that matters. I don't think I'd be lucky enough to be able to walk through some kind of forest nearby where everyone has been to and just stumble upon some Ancient Divine being's key to their entire Inheritance.'

Walking for nearly half an hour on a road come close to a majestic mountain ridge in the distance. Clouds seemed to steer clear of the mountain tops letting the sun's rays shine on it.

"Do you see those mountains in the distance? That's your new home, and if you work hard enough in the future some of you may even be able to go to the main branch in the kingdom's capital." The elder leading us pointed as he tried motivating us.

'Ha! Your tricks won't work on me! I didn't even know this was a branch sect!'

As everyone entered through the first gate the elder stops, turning around to face us.

"We shall now hand out your residence numbers and tomorrow you shall receive your class schedules. In the mean time you may go to the library' first floor to select or reserve any three books you desire to learn.

Please separate into the respective genders, a female elder shall come to lead the young ladies away and I'll lead the young men. By the way I'm Elder Pan of the contribution hall, I'll be seeing you all frequently I hope.

These tokens are to keep track of your sect points and ID, when you're all in the second stage you can insert your qi into the tokens to confirm ownership." Slowing floating up in the sky he sent a series of small tokens to everyone on the ground.

As he slowed down to a halt in the sky a woman comes flying and stops next to him.

"Elder Pan are these this year's Outer Sect members?" Floating next to him, she stared down the two groups below her.

"Yes they are, and they're not a bad bunch either at least in potential. Maybe we won't come in last this year." Stroking his beard with a smile on his face

"Alright then, ladies please follow me." Landing on the ground heading on the right-most path with the girls.

"The rest of you please follow me. The buildings shall situate 2 people per building so everyone shall have a room mate." Elder Pan guided us to the left-most path in the area.

Following along there were already others in the area we traveled to. Curiously they seemed to check out the new members. Or maybe there were sizing us up.

After getting my assigned home number's key I didn't even head inside, instead opting to go straight to the library to pick out some techniques or manuals before other's do. Of course some others had the same idea as me, including Liang Jia who I met along the way.

"What building did you get?" I casually asked him along the way.

"Building 361, what about you?" He asked showing a small key with the number etched onto it.

"375, Do you know what you're going to get from the library? If you're going to use a spear then just get one of those training books." I asked while giving a small glance to his spear.

"Yeah, I'll probably do that and since we can pick out three books I'll just look around for anything else that catches my eye." He said fidgeting with his new key.

Entering the library it's of a fairly large size with many sections. Strolling through to the sword section a simple manual catches my eye, its the [Enlightened Earth Kingdom's basic swordsmanship]. Perfect, It's the first time I've ever used a sword, so I got to start somewhere right?

Heading over to the movement section similarly easy to start. [Swift step] is another basic manual that not many pick, it has a simple name and isn't too flashy when used. For my final one I go over to the Alchemy section to pick up one of the how to get started on [Alchemy 101]. It's a fairly used book from the wear on it's covering, but I got here first so its mine for now. Reaching the clerk to register the three books in my name he takes my token.

"Are you new? I've never seen you here before... Oh you are, your token has no information or contribution points on it. Well these manuals need to be returned in 3 weeks. At that time you could just pick new ones alright? Have a good day." The clerk inspected my token before handing over both the token and books I registered.

"Alright well see you then." I gave him a wave before walking back to my new home.

Entering our building there seems to only be three rooms in the small building a living room with a couch, coffee table, and both of our own rooms in the back separated by a hallway.

Moving into my room I could finally take off my backpack and bow placing them on a table next to the wall with a wooden chair in front of it. Taking the swordsmanship and movement book along with the bandit's sword we stole into our small backyard I try to practice the manual.

The book tells of 2 styles of swordsmanship one-handed and two-handed. The sword I have now can just barely do both styles as the handle was just barely long enough for both of my hands. The one-handed style focused more on speed and counters while the two-handed style focused more on power and control over the sword.

I wanted to try both of the styles from the book I brought so I spent an hour on one-handed and another on two-handed, then a final hour on the movement technique before running out of energy and sunlight going straight to the bed they provided in my room.

Waking up to the sounds knocking on my door I wearily woke up my body aching from practicing any physical activity for three hours. I think the last time I did any exercise for such a long time was 5-6 years ago when I was forced to take a gym class. Opening a door It was another sect member handing over a piece of paper before leaving without a word.

It was a schedule for classes and lectures happening throughout the week. The first one for the day was at 8am, an hour from now, and it was a beginner class on starting cultivation.

I might as well practice a bit more on the movement skill a bit more before the class.

8 minutes before the start of class I get out of my temporary home and start making my way over to the appointed location of the class. I knew I was getting close to the right area from the amount of people I sorta recognized going into the same area.

The area had no roof nor walls but there was a platform surrounded by a semi-circle of seats like a university but the seats were replaced with long benches. The bottom half of the seats were already taken so my only option were the upper half. I'm just hoping I can still hear what will be said.

While waking up towards an empty seat I spot the four military members within the crowd although scattered apart from one another. All of them spot me the same though and they all gave a small gesture of acknowledgement so I waved back to all of them.

Finally taking a seat to sit down I notice a familiar figure come up next to me and sit on my right.

"𝘞𝘩𝘰𝘢, 𝘸𝘩𝘰'𝘴 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘨𝘪𝘳𝘭? 𝘞𝘢𝘴 𝘴𝘩𝘦 𝘢𝘭𝘸𝘢𝘺𝘴 𝘢 𝘱𝘢𝘳𝘵 𝘰𝘧 𝘰𝘶𝘳 𝘨𝘳𝘰𝘶𝘱?"

"𝘐 𝘥𝘰𝘯'𝘵 𝘬𝘯𝘰𝘸 𝘮𝘢𝘯, 𝘐 𝘸𝘢𝘴𝘯'𝘵 𝘱𝘢𝘺𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘢𝘵𝘵𝘦𝘯𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯 𝘮𝘶𝘤𝘩 𝘸𝘩𝘦𝘯 𝘰𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘳𝘴 𝘢𝘳𝘳𝘪𝘷𝘦𝘥."

"Oh, hey Yao Ya did you go to the library yet?" Noticing who came to sit next to me I sat up a little straighter. While also ignoring the whispers that came the moment Yao Ya appeared.

"Yeah I did! Wanna see the manuals I got?" Before I could even respond she pulled out 3 books out from her robe and set it on my lap.
