Quality time with Loki and Daphne: A cape is the best way to show your friendship

When their class ended, students filed out and headed for lunch. While queueing up, a boy sauntered up and cut through the line, skipping most it. No one stopped him because he was a Level 3.8, higher than most of the people in line. Daphne waved him over. "Hey Lo! The twins decided to eat somewhere else and Ava took some food and left, saying she didn't want to stay here where so many high-levels were." "Oh," Loki said. "So, what's your plan for today?" Daphne smiled. "Have you ever seen the VR fighting rooms?" "It's the rooms where there are VR equipment where you can test your power and combat power, right? I thought we aren't able to access it until this weekend when everyone would have had a Combat class and Weapons class?"

"Yep! Just wondering if you knew. I was going to go to the market today. Join me?" Loki looked unsure. "I don't think I'll be able to buy anything. We're only getting our first 10 credits today, remember?" "Oh!" Daphne said. "My family sends me about 3500 credits a month, so we can share them. I promise it won't be a problem." Just then, a new quest came in through a new box called 'Social Quests'.

Loki's eyes widened. "Really?" Daphne smiled sweetly. "Of course! That's what's friends are for, right?" Loki realized that she thought he was talking to her, and quickly snapped into focus. "That's really nice of you. When should we go?" "Why not now?" Daphne said.

Once Daphne had gotten Loki out of school grounds, Daphne quickly linked his hand through hers. "Come on!" She pulled him along into the marketplace. Loki looked around as Daphne dragged him through the streets. There was fresh bread, weapons, beast core for sale and so much more. A beautiful black dragonskin cape caught Loki's eye and he stopped for a moment, staring at it. Daphne noticed it and grinned. "You like the cape?" Loki laughed sheepishly. "Yeah, it's kind of cool." "Then let's check it out!" Daphne pulled Loki to the stall. Daphne walked up to the vendor confidently. "Hello! Do you mind if I ask what cape this is?" The vendor looked at them. "You're MS students, aren't you? Do you think you'd be able to afford this?" Daphne shrugged. "Depends."

The vendor sighed. "Fine. If you have to know, this cape was made from the hide of a Monterisso Dragon. It is light, it is good for stealth and it's extremely good at defence." "Really?" Loki said, looking interested. "What sort of defence?" "Any Beast Weapon ranging from Level 1- Level 5, the weapon will bounce off your cape, but only if you angle it in a way that the cape shields you from the weapon. It's useless in hand-to-hand combat, apart from its stealth." "What about against magic? What happens then?" Daphne asked curiously. "The cape can protect you from weak spells such as weak fireballs and absorb most of weak electric shocks, so that you only feel a small tingle. It won't be able to help you against powerful spells, though. It has high heat resistance, electric resistance, and it can warm you up when you're in someplace cold with the heat it has absorbed from fire attacks. It is hard to destroy, and if it tears, you can repair it by simply holding the two pieces of the torn cape together."

"How much is it?" Daphne asked. "3000 credits." Daphne held her wristwatch under a scanner, and a beep was heard as 3000 credits were transferred into the cash register. "How does a student have that much money?" The vendor asked, looking shocked. "Being part of an Original family helps," she replied smugly as she took the cape and dragged Loki away.

"Wasn't that most of the credits your parents would you send you for the month? Why did you buy it? Did you want it?" "It's nice, but it's not my style. Besides, I can't wear something with high electric resistance. It would put me at a disadvantage when I use my Ability. It's for you!" Daphne grinned as she passed the cape to Loki. "Wait, this is- This is for me?! It's too expensive! I can't accept it! I-" "Shhh," Daphne said. "Just keep it our little secret, kay? I don't want everyone coming to me to buy things for them. I don't mind doing it on my own accord though. Take that as a friendship gift." Daphne pressed the cape into Loki's arms. "We should be heading back soon. I'll go first. See you at dinner!" Daphne ran off, leaving Loki with the beautiful cape and his thoughts.

Loke slipped on the cape and stared at the screen as more signs started showing up.

[Temporary stats have been unlocked]

[(Temporary) Stealth: 3/3]

[(Temporary) Defence: 6/6]

[These stats are temporary because when you take of the Monterisso Dragonskin Cape, those stats will disappear]

Loki looked at his wristwatch, seeing the words '10 credits' flash. 'I would like to add the 10 credits into my Inventory please', he thought.

[Would you like to put the 10 credits with the 30 credits or put it into a separate box?]

'Into the same box, please.'

[10 credits have been added to the 30 credits in Inventory]

[28 spaces remaining]

Loki thought for a moment, running his hand over the smooth cape. He was afraid bullies would see it and try to destroy it, so he had to keep it safe. 'I would like to store the dragonskin cape into the Inventory'.

Loki started walking back to school, thinking the whole time. 'So now I have temporary stats for stealth and defense, but when I take of my cape, I have none of them."

Loki didn't really pay attention at all to what happened for the rest of the day. All he remembered was eating, cleaning up and going to bed. The others seemed frenzied as well, being their first day and all.

So distracted, that as they got into bed, they didn't notice a pair of opal blue eyes, staring at them in the dark.
