Hunting: Are you serious?

Nishan looked horrified. "You want me to be bait?! For that thing to chase me?"

"You're not exactly stealthy," Seraphine pointed out. "Even Saltavore is sneakier than you."

"Guys," Terrence said. "If we don't hurry, we're going to lose our opportunity."

[The Musk Ox had poor eyesight and poor sense of smelling, but has extremely good hearing]

Loki thought it was strange that the musk ox's speed and strength was lowered by so much, but he pushed the question aside as he quickly relayed the information to the others, ignoring Nishan and Saltavore's questions to how he knew all of these things as it wasn't taught in Beast-ology, and how he knew how strong or fast the musk ox was.

"Nishan," Daphne started. "You're the bait. You just have to make some random noises in different places. Throw some rocks here, snap some twigs there, just put the sounds, places that we aren't at." Me, Loki, and Saltavore can attack the musk ox from the top. Since its hide is thick, we'll need some time. The moment we drop down and deliver the first blow, Seraphine and Terrence will use their Earth Abilities to rap the musk ox's legs in the ground. I can use my Electric Ability to momentarily stun the musk ox while Loki, Saltavore and Nishan can stab them with their swords."

"He doesn't have a sword," Nishan nodded at Loki. "How is he going to stab the musk ox?"

"What the-" Saltavore started.

"No time to talk," Seraphine cut in. "We should get in position now."

Nishan grumbled but walked out into the open, making sure to keep some distance. He yelled, "Hey! Hairy beast!" while hurling the rock in the opposite direction of where he was. The musk ox lifted its head, getting confused by the two sounds from the different places.

Loki, Daphne and Saltavore quickly scaled the nearby trees.

"Drop on 3," Loki mouthed to them. "1... 2... 3!"

The three of them jumped down from the trees, Saltavore stabbing the musk ox in its back, Loki managing to land a blow on the musk ox's neck, and Daphne landing on its head, one hand holding on to the musk ox's horn while the other hand was ready to electrocute it.

"Now!" Terrence yelled as he and Seraphine used their Earth Abilities to trap the musk ox's legs.

The musk ox reared back, trying to throw off Loki, Daphne and Saltavore.

Daphne quickly shocked the musk ox hard. As the musk ox stilled for a moment, Loki and Saltavore began to hack at the musk ox's hide. Nishan quickly ran forward, pulling out his own sword and started dealing blows as well.

The musk ox bellowed, rearing with such strength that the earth around the musk ox's hooves started to crumble, the musk ox's legs slowing freeing itself.

"Guys," Seraphine grunted. "I'd appreciate it if you hurried! We won't be able to hold this guy for long! Since Romania is cutting down our Ability usage, we won't be able to keep this up!"

Nishan summoned two small flames in his palms, hurling the flames at the musk ox's eyes. The musk ox groaned in agony as Loki's sword manage to leave a gash in the musk ox's hide. He and Saltavore continuously attacked at that gash, making it bigger and bigger and leaving deeper cuts as Daphne and Saltvaore distracted the musk ox with their flames and electricity, and Terrence and Seraphine held the musk ox in place with their Abilities.

Saltavore finally managed to deliver the killing blow with a vicious slash to its body. The musk ox jerked a few times, before collapsing on the ground and stopped moving altogether.

Terrence panted as he, Seraphine, Daphne and Nishan all sat on the ground, winded from the energy used to use their Abilities. "Looks like pretty boy actually managed to kill something after all."

Loki huffed and told Saltavore, "Get some of the Solace Fern, please."

"Solace Fern is...?"

Loki rolled his eyes. "DO you not pay any attention in class? Solace Fern is a sort of magical fern that has sap that helps people to sleep. It's known to be soft, so we can clean up the clearing here," he motioned to the grass-free land nearby them, "Place the Solace Fern there and sleep on it."

"Good idea!" Seraphine said.

"I'll go collect firewood," Loki said, getting ready to go.

"Can't I just light a fire with my Ability?" Nishan said.

"You have to reserve your energy, dumbass," Daphne rolled her eyes.

Terrence quickly interrupted the fight that would start soon. "Loki, you should go collect the firewood now. Saltavore, please get the Solace Fern. We'll stay here and clean up the clearing, as well as start to skin the musk ox."

"I'm not doing that," Nishan wrinkled his nose up at the corpse. "I am not touching that thing."

"That thing is our dinner," Seraphine rolled her eyes. "And me and Terrence can do it. We've hunted small animals before."

"Daphne smiled. "Me and Nishan will clean up the clearing then. Once we're done, can you teach me how to skin and butcher the musk ox properly?"

They all spread out to do their tasks. When Loki got back with a bundle of firewood in his hands, Daphne and Nishan had already finished their task.

"I'll start the fire," Nishan took the bundle of firewood out of Loki's hands. "You can help them cut that thing up."

Loki rolled his eyes and walked over to where Daphne, Seraphine and Terrence was.

"I told you, I'm not exactly sure how to butcher something so big," Terrence was saying, holding Elegans in his hands. "But I can do the basics."

Seraphine was washing the pelt of the musk ox on at the stream as Loki walked over. "Anything I can do to help?"

"Not really," Seraphine sighed. "We don't know how to tan the hide of the musk ox, so we're just washing it and well, probably use it to shelter us from storms if there are any."

"Well, there probably won't be any storms tonight," Loki pointed at the clear sky above them. "Still, better to have and not need than need and not have."

By then, Daphne and Terrence had managed to butcher the meat and skewering them on sticks nearby. They held the skewers over the fire Nishan had started and Saltavore was back with a lot of Solace Fern.

Once Terrence had deemed the meat to be cooked enough, he and Daphne passed out the skewers of meat around.

Loki bit into the meat and let out a moan. The meat was tender, and had melted in his mouth. The texture was amazing, and it burst with flavor in his mouth. Around him, he could see his friends having similar reactions to the meat.

"Still don't think that we should eat beast meat?" Seraphine asked Nishan and Saltavore through her full mouth.

The two brothers ignore her and continued to eat at the meat ravenously.

When they all had had their fill, they all lay down on the Solace Fern.

"This isn't so bad," Saltavore broke the comfortable silence after awhile.

Daphne sat up. "We should get sleeping, but one of us should stay awake to keep watch in case and beast come for us in the middle of the night."

"We should also smoke some of the musk ox meat," Seraphine added. "That we have some food to eat during our journey."

"I'll take first watch for about two and a half hours," Loki offered. "Terrence can take second watch, Daphne third and Seraphine last. Okay?"

"Okay," Nishan yawned. "Goodnight. You guys aren't absolutely clueless fools after all."

None of them answered as they all lay down, except for Terrence, who started stripping some of the meat and hanging them over the fire on little racks of sticks he had made, and Loki, who was holding his Ashel Silver sword in his hand.

After his two hour and a half hours, Loki woke Terrence and lay down on the Solace Ferns. Loki's eyes fluttered shut, he wondered, what would be in store for the rest of them?
