Is This the End of our Journey?

"I can deal the killing blow," Loki offered. "Can anyone give the first cut?"

Saltavore gave a small sigh. "I can do it."

"Wait, really?" Seraphine said, looking shocked, before she realized how insulting that had to sound. "I mean, I get that Loki would kill it, because of his Ashel Silver sword and all, but I just didn't expect you to offer."

Nishan looked worried for his brother as he explained, "It's because of Viribus, his sword. It has a function that when dealing with extremely dangerous people or beasts, it will let paralyzing poison seep into the wound inflicted by Viribus."

"Wait, since when can Viribus do that?" Daphne asked looking shocked.

"Maybe we'll tell you another time," Saltavore pulled out a small vial of blood. "But we should kill the Immanis Beluae first."

"Got it," Terrence nodded. "The rest of us will distract it for you. Wait, why are you holding blood?"

"It's the blood of a Egeon," Nishan answered. "You know, the small but fast bird which can camouflage itself?"

"Why would you need that?" Daphne asked.

"I'm going to drink and turn into an Egeon," Saltavore explained. "Once I get close, I'll turn back to my human form, pull out Viribus, and try to stab it instead of getting killed."

"That's a really good plan," Seraphine grinned. "I'd ask you why you have a vial of beast blood with you, but the monster is going to finish of and notice us soon."

The Immanis Beluae had already killed over half the herd of musk oxen, and was finishing of the survivors. Saltavore drank the blood with a grimace on his face, before changing into a bird and swiftly flying towards the monster, camouflaging himself.

"It's still so weird seeing him become a beast," Nishan muttered as he pulled out his own sword, Victrix.

Once he was as close as he could get, Saltavore transformed into a human. He pulled out Viribus, quietly running towards the Immanis Beluae, any noise that was made by him drowned out by the deafening cries of the musk oxen. Just as the monster finished snapping up the last of the herd, Saltavore drove his sword deep into the small piece of exposed flesh that was uncovered by the scaly armor it had.

The Immanis Beluae let out a roar of pain, a scale already falling off its body. The rest of them were about to charge out to distract the monster while Loki killed it, but the Immanis Beluae seemed immune to the paralyzing poison. It swung its large tail, knocking Saltavore at least 50 feet away.

"Saltavore!" Nishan yelled as he ran over to check on his brother. Another scale dropped off its body, and the monster roared once again, but this time the roar was in anger, not pain. It charged towards where they were, jaws letting out streams of fire.

"Seraphine, you help my cousins," Daphne directed. "Terrence, you and I will distract that monster, We should try to get it to bend down so that Loki can kill it."

The monster reached where they were, hairy ape fist coming down on them. The three of them just barely managed to jump out of the way, the ground where they once stood now a deep hole.

"Hey!" Daphne yelled, summoning a ball of electricity. "Over here, you monster!"

Daphne hurled the ball of electricity at it, but it didn't have any effect. The Immanis Beluae snarled and breathed down a stream of fire, Daphne quickly jumping out of the way. "Too slow! I guess you're us a stupid who's slow as hell!"

The monster didn't seem to enjoy Daphne's comment and roared again, charging towards her. Daphne managed to dodge its attacks each time, but Loki could tell that she was wearing herself out, and she would only be able to buy them that much time.

He noticed that the monster's legs weren't covered by the same hide that was over the rest of its body, but covered with fur instead. He mentally yelled at Daphne, 'Shock its legs!"

Daphne summoned a ball of electricity, throwing it at the monster's legs. The monster roared, its legs buckling slightly. Daphne quickly summoned more electric balls and kept shocking its legs.

[Name: Immanis Beluae]

[Strength: 76/90]

[Speed: 38/55]

'It's speed has went down a lot!' Loki let Daphne know, Daphne answering with a simple, 'Good.' But even from a far, Daphne's electro balls were losing strength, and Daphne was starting to slow down as well. Loki looked around frantically, noticing how its legs were shaky.

"Terrence!" he yelled. "Knock him off his feet!"

Terrence nodded, putting his hands to the ground and using his Ability to make the earth beneath the Immanis Beluae's legs to crumble, temporarily trapping the monster.

Daphne charged, summoning a electro ball so big that she had to be using all her energy for it. She threw it straight at the monster and it hit it, stunning it. However, as Daphne was jumping away from the monster, its stinger came and pierced Daphne's left arm. Daphne let out a small scream of pain, the paralyzing poison quickly taking effect as she lay on the ground, unable to move.

As the Immanis Beluae bend down to snap Daphne up in its jaw, Loki charged forward, sword raised, and slashed down.
