Loki stepped out of the VR combat system, the word still ringing in his head. He stumbled his way back to his room, collapsing on his bed as the memories slowly flooded back.
Earth. His home. The Snakes. Mr. Joshua. The Phoenix family. The Powell family. The portal. Romania. Him being a Laufeyson. How he got the system. He clutched his head as the memories pounded against his head painfully.
After awhile, Daphne poked her head in. "Hey Lo! Nishan said you suddenly left the VR combat system- Are you okay?"
"Ugh," Loki groaned, trying to form words. "Remember."
"Remember? Remember what?" Daphne asked worriedly. "Do you have a headache? Give me a moment. I think there are some aspirin downstairs. I'll be right back."
Daphne quickly rushed down, grabbed a couple of aspirin and ran back up to Loki's room, passing him the aspirin and a glass of water. "Here, swallow this."
Loki swallowed quickly, giving a small sigh of relief as the headache eased up.
"What did you mean by remember?" Daphne asked, sitting on the bed next to him.
"Earth," Loki started. "Where we were from and The Snakes and your family and everything and how Ava died- Do you remember?"
Daphne frowned. "I think... Wait a moment."
She rubbed her temple as she felt a growing headache. "I'll think about what you said again later, right now I should get to bed, I have a headache."
"No, don't do that!" Loki pulled her back down as she got up. "I think that the headaches are connected to our missing memories. Whenever I tried to think about stuff like where I cam from, my family and everything else, I get a horrible headache that makes me want to stop thinking about it. But this is really important, so you need to try and remember it now."
Daphne closed her eyes as the headache few worse. "I don't-" she started, before giving a small gasp of pain and surprise. "I know what you're talking about! I know-" She collapse on the bed, giving a small groan of pain.
Loki got Daphne a glass of water and passed her an aspirin. Daphne gulped it down quickly.
"I know what you're talking about," Daphne said quietly. "I remember everything now. How did we forget Earth?"
"I don't know," Loki said grimly. "But we're going to make the rest remember and get to the bottom of this."
A lot of explaining, four headaches, and a lot of aspirin later, everyone remembered about Earth and everything else.
"How did we forget about all of that?" Saltavore wondered. "And why are we still here? Shouldn't we get going?"
"I know we should," Seraphine said. "But... I also don't feel like leaving. I feel like we can just stay here and lead peaceful lives forever."
"That doesn't sound like the Seraphine I know," Terrence dragged Seraphine out of the door, the rest of their friends trailing after them. "The Seraphine I know doesn't want to settle down, she likes adventures. Something is definitely making you say that."
"Maybe my system can help," Loki wondered. "System? Hello? Could you help us?"
There was no reply, and Loki sighed.
"Come on," Nishan motioned towards the courtroom. "Let's go to the courtroom. Maybe we can find some answers there."
As they got closer to the courtroom, Loki's system flared up.
[Usage of magic has been detected]
[Magic is being rejected]
[Magic is to strong to be cancelled]
"What?" Loki wondered. He quickly told the others what his system just said.
"What magic can be so strong that your system can't block it?" Terrence wondered. "Actually, why are we here again?"
"I... can't remember," Daphne mumbled, rubbing her head in confusion.
Nishan pulled a piece of paper from his pocket. "Good thing I thought to write down what we came here for, then."
"You're a lifesaver," Daphne said, bending over to read what was on the paper.
After they had refreshed their memories (and got painful headaches in the process), they all remembered what they were doing once again.
"How did we forget that?" Seraphine wondered. "We were just talking about it!"
"I think it's something to do with the magic that my system couldn't block," Loki said slowly. "Maybe it's magic that makes us forget about this sort of thing."
"Come on," Daphne hurried to the courtroom. "We have to hurry before we forget everything again."
Once they were all in the empty courtroom, Saltavore said, "We should split up. Divide and conquer."
"Okay." They split up in groups of two, poking around the room and looking for, well, anything.
"I think we found something!"
They all went over to where Saltavore and Terrence were searching.
"Look at this!" Terrence pulled open a curtain to reveal a glowing pink gem. "What do you think it is?"
"I don't know," Daphne said. She cocked her head. "Why are we here again?"
They quickly reminded her and once she remembered again, Daphne scowled. "Why do I keep forgetting these things?"
Loki reached out his hand to grab the gem. "Inspect this gem."
[Name: Amnesia Stone]
[This Amnesia Stone is a regular rose-quartz that has daemon magic put into it]
[The Amnesia Stone makes everyone within 50 miles forget about whatever the creator wants them to forget]
Loki told them what his system had just informed him.
"Can you try to store the Amnesia Stone into you Inventory?" Seraphine wondered. "Maybe we can stop its effect by doing that.
[Amnesia Stone cannot be stored into Inventory]
"Apparently not," Loki sighed. "System, could you tell me everything about this Amnesia Stone, please?"
[Amnesia Stone was made by powerful daemons]
[Amnesia Stone has been given the order to wipe the memories of life before Aranea]
[Amnesia Stone is powered by an unknown source]
"What is that source?" Loki asked desperately. "We need to know!"
