"I think I know what L.B stands for."
There was a moment of silence, before his friends all cried out, "What?"
"I've been thinking" Loki said slowly. "What if L.B doesn't stand for a person or a group of people? What if it stands for a place? Namely, what if it stands for the Luxury Box?"
"You have a good point," Terrence said slowly. "But what could that possibly mean?"
"Remember how to scroll said that The Snake would meet up with Laufeysons in a heavily enchanted area? And how they took the materials around that are to make somewhere new? What if it's the Luxury Box that was made? You said your parents always use the Luxury Box, and they go to every match. Since the glass is tinted, they could be doing anything and no one would know! Maybe they're meeting their clients in there?"
"Oh my god, that does make sense!" Seraphine gasped. "But if that was the case, then why would they invite us to the Luxury Box?"
"Maybe they wanted us to meet some of their clients," Nishan grimaced. "Or they wanted to show Daphne how amazing life would be if she just agreed to join The Snakes. It could even be to show you guys that you don't belong to this life and never will."
"Harsh," Terrence said. "But kind of true. So, should we take them up on the offer?"
"Definitely," Daphne nodded. "We can see what goes on in the Luxury Box, look for clues, and get free drinks and food while we're at it. Plus, our parents don't know that you guys," she gestured at Loki, Seraphine and Terrence, "That you guys know about The Snakes yet, so they'll be careful of what they say around you."
"Then let's get up there," Seraphine wrapped her hands around herself. "I'm going to freeze if we stay out here too long!"
The sic of them made their way up the stands that were full of people to the top, where a big, wooden box was, painted in black. It had tinted glass, and it was enchanted so that no one could here what was going on inside. A small door was at the side of the door, guarded by two men.
"Hello," Saltavore walked up. "We'd like to enter, please."
The guards looked them up and down, before seeming to recognize who they were and gave a small bow, hurriedly opening the door. "Please enjoy your time in the Luxury Box."
Once inside, they understood why it was called 'Luxury Box'. There were beautiful crystal chandeliers, air conditioners and heat radiators. There was a large-flat screen TV, which was almost as difficult to acquire as a phone, which really made no sense as VR combat systems were everywhere. The wall facing the fighting ring was entirely made out of glass, but was tinted so that they could see what was going on outside, and no one could look in. The glass was also reinforced with magic, so that if you fell against it, it wouldn't shatter, and if say a sniper wanted to take you out, the bullet would simply bounce of the glass. There were tables and chairs near the glass wall, where there were many other people sitting there, sipping elegant glasses of champagne as they took dainty bites of delicious, fresh-baked pastry. Loki spotted Daphne's parents sitting at the sofa with Mr. and Mrs. Powell, chatting with two other men. They made their way over to them.
"Mother, Father," Daphne gave a small curtsy. "Uncle, Aunt."
"Hello, dear," Mrs. Phoenix gestured at the empty seats near them. "Take a seat, won't you? Sor, Kale, this is my nephews, my daughter and her bodyguards."
"It's good to see you," One of the men said. "My name is Sor, and this is my companion, Kale. We're here to discuss business with your parents."
"What type of business?" Nishan asked politely.
"Well," Mr. Kale smirked. "Your parents were discussing about how Daphne didn't want to take over the family business. So, they decided to secure her future."
"What does that mean?" Loki tried to hide the anxiety in his tone.
"If Daphne doesn't take over the family business, she won't inherit the family manor or money either," Mr. Phoenix steepled his fingers. "But she is still a Phoenix, and we won't let our reputation go down just because of that. So, if Daphne still refuses to take over the family business by the time she turns 17, we'll have to take plan B."
"And what's plan B?" Seraphine asked.
Mrs. Phoenix let out a small laugh. "Mr. Sor is extremely wealthy, has a powerful status, and is only 28 this year. If Daphne still doesn't take over the family business, once she's of age, she'll be wed to Mr. Sor."
